Tudor has presented the Black Bay 58 ref. M7939A1A0RU, a new edition of the popular diver’s watch distinguished by its all-burgundy appearance, a 5-link bracelet with T-fit and Master Chronometer certification.

This new Black Bay 58 retains all the core design elements typical of the line while including aesthetic notes from a burgundy prototype Tudor Submariner ref. 79190, developed in the 1990s but never put in production.

Crafted from 316L stainless steel with polished and satin finishes, the 39 mm case of the new model features a slim profile at just 11.7 mm thick. It is fitted with a unidirectional rotatable bezel in steel, with a burgundy anodised aluminium insert that perfectly matches the burgundy domed dial.

The redesigned and shoulderless crown is screwed-down and adorned with the Tudor shield in relief. Water resistance is rated to 20 bar (200 metres / 660 feet).

The applied hour markers and the signature “Snowflake” hands are filled with Grade A Super-LumiNova luminescent material for enhanced legibility in the dark.

Along with the new 5-link bracelet, the watch is also available with the traditional 3-link bracelet or a rubber strap. All three have Tudor’s rapid adjustment system known as T-fit.

Produced for the brand by Kenissi Manufacture SA, Tudor’s movement production facility founded in 2016, the proprietary Calibre MT5400 beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and features a bidirectional rotor system ensuring a power reserve of approximately 65 hours. 

The watch is certified as a Master Chronometer by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS). To qualify, a watch must function within a daily variation range of 0 to +5 seconds, which is 5 seconds narrower than the standard set by the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) (-4/+6), testing only the movement itself.

Master Chronometer certification ensures not only timekeeping precision but also resistance to magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss (achieved in part thanks to a non-magnetic silicon hairspring), alongside manufacturer-claimed waterproofness and power reserve.

Two prerequisites are necessary before the certification can be obtained: Swiss manufacturing must conform with the criteria of Swiss Made, and the movement must be certified by the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC).
