Blancpain unveils the new Fifty Fathoms Tech BOC IV limited edition, a series of just 100 pieces in support of ocean conservation. Price €23,450
Blancpain unveils the new Fifty Fathoms Tech BOC IV limited edition, a series of just 100 pieces launched in support of ocean conservation. Proceeds from sales of this professional diver's watch will contribute to a new preservation initiative under the Blancpain Ocean Commitment (BOC) program, reinforcing the brand’s ongoing dedication to protecting the marine environment.
In particular, raised funds will be used to support the operations of the Blancpain x Sulubaai Marine Research Center, whose construction has also been financed by the Swiss Manufacture.
An extension of the Sea Academy project, a programme of the Sulubaai Environmental Foundation (SEF) that was brought to life thanks to the brand's support, this research centre, inaugurated in 2025, will host researchers, local communities and stakeholders with the aim of studying, restoring and protecting Shark Fin Bay in the Philippines.
The new watch follows the inaugural timepiece of the Tech line, the Fifty Fathoms 70th Anniversary Act 2 Tech Gombessa, launched in 2023 to mark the 70th anniversary of the Fifty Fathoms.
That model was presented in a 47‑mm case with a bezel that measured immersion times of up to 3 hours, while the new Fifty Fathoms Tech BOC IV is unveiled in a 45‑mm case featuring a bezel that measures immersion times of up to one hour, a date window, and an intense blue hue reminiscent of the ocean.
The case is crafted from Grade 23 titanium, a material known for its high resistance, exceptional hypoallergenic properties, and remarkable lightness. The total thickness is 14.1 mm.
Enhancing its functionality, the unidirectional bezel features a domed black ceramic insert and is inclined towards the dial. This design, exclusive to the Tech line, allows divers to operate it with ease using the palm of the hand, even while wearing thick gloves. The bezel enables precise measurement of immersion times up to one hour.
The helium valve at 10 o’clock underscores the Fifty Fathoms Tech BOC IV’s technical capabilities. When diving to great depths, helium can infiltrate the watch during hyperbaric saturation in a chamber. During decompression, unscrewing the valve allows the gas to escape without compromising the watch’s water resistance, which remains at 30 bar (300 metres / 1,000 feet).
Legibility is excellent thanks to the absolute black dial, which absorbs up to 97% of light, reducing reflections. Large, luminescent block-shaped appliques ensure a strong contrast even in the depths of the ocean.
Adding a refined touch of colour, the seconds hand and the name of the Tech line appear in blue, paying homage to the marine world. This same blue accent is also present on the Blancpain Ocean Commitment (BOC) logo, which adorns the oscillating weight.
The new Fifty Fathoms Tech BOC IV is powered by the in‑house Calibre 1315A, a high‑performance movement operating at 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) that delivers a remarkable 5‑day power reserve through its three‑barrel architecture. This same calibre is also used in the Fifty Fathoms Automatique 42 mm.
The movement’s exquisite finishes are showcased by an 18 ct gold oscillating weight featuring three large apertures and decorated with the blue BOC logo, all visible through the transparent sapphire crystal. A non‑magnetic silicon balance‑spring is employed so that this transparency is achieved without compromising the movement’s resistance to magnetism.
The integrated black rubber strap, secured by central lugs attached from the inside of the case middle, provides an exceptionally secure and ergonomic fit that enhances overall wearability.
Presented in a water- and shock-resistant Peli case, underscoring its professional-grade durability, the new Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Tech BOC IV limited edition, ref. 5029A 12B30 64A, has a suggested retail price of €23,450.
As part of Blancpain’s Ocean Commitment, €1,000 from each sale will be donated to the Blancpain x Sulubaai Marine Research Center, facilitating marine research, restoration, and education to ensure long-term ecosystem sustainability. In total, €100,000 will support the operations of this marine research centre in the Philippines, which was inaugurated on 7 February 2025. blancpain.com
