In 2025, MB&F celebrates its 20th Anniversary with two limited editions: LM Perpetual Longhorn and LM Sequential Flyback Longhorn. Price CHF 168,000
In 2005, Maximilian Büsser started putting together a network of “Friends” for the creation of the first MB&F's timepiece, the Horological Machine No.1.
To start the celebration of its 20th anniversary, MB&F is introducing two 20-piece limited editions – the LM Perpetual Longhorn and the LM Sequential Flyback Longhorn – both crafted in stainless steel with rhodium-plated base plates, 'Longhorn' lugs, glossy black lacquer dials, and blued hands.
The Longhorn concept began in 2009 during the design of LM1, MB&F’s first Legacy Machine. The idea of longer lugs, or horns, was visually appealing but created a challenge for spring bar placement, either near the case or at the tip of the lug. Both options risked a poor fit depending on wrist size, so the long horns were replaced by shorter ones, and the idea was set aside.
In 2021, to mark the 10th anniversary of the Legacy Machine 1, MB&F revisited the idea of long horns with an innovative solution: drilling two holes in the lugs—one at the tip and one near the case—allowing the wearer to choose the fit. This unique piece was crafted in stainless steel, unlike the usual gold, platinum, or titanium, and featured glossy black sub-dials on a rhodium-plated base plate, a striking departure from the classic white dials.
The unique-piece LM1 “Longhorn” auctioned in 2021
Sold at auction by Phillips in association with Bacs & Russo, with proceeds benefiting Save the Rhino International, this one-of-a-kind timepiece concluded the LM1 chapter while sparking curiosity about the long horns and their bold design.
Now, the 'Longhorn' lugs design is back, along with stainless steel cases, rhodium-plated base plates, glossy black lacquer sub-dials, and blued hands.
The first of the two limited editions is the Legacy Machine Perpetual Longhorn, featuring MB&F’s GPHG award-winning perpetual calendar introduced in 2015.
Developed in collaboration with independent watchmaker Stephen McDonnell, this model is powered by a 581-component, fully integrated hand-wound movement designed to overcome the limitations of traditional perpetual calendars.
McDonnell’s innovative “mechanical processor” prevents issues like skipping dates and jamming gears, with pushers that automatically deactivate during calendar changes, offering a user-friendly and reliable experience.
The second limited edition, the Legacy Machine Sequential Flyback Longhorn, was also developed by Stephen McDonnell.
Building on the LM Sequential EVO launched in 2022, MB&F’s first-ever chronograph and 20th calibre, this edition brings the brand’s technical ingenuity to new heights.
The original EVO introduced the revolutionary “Twinverter” binary switch, enabling multiple timing modes, including independent timing, split-second, cumulative, and lap-timer functionalities. It earned the prestigious “Aiguille d’Or” Grand Prix at the 2022 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG).
The 2024 Flyback version went even further than the EVO edition as, on top of the previous timing modes, typically associated with motor racing, it added the flyback function originally conceived for pilots.
Both the MB&F LM Perpetual Longhorn and LM Sequential Flyback Longhorn are priced at CHF 168,000 (excluding taxes).
MB&F’s 20th anniversary will be celebrated throughout the year with new timepieces, collaborations, and other surprises. mbandf.com
