Zenith expands Defy Extreme Diver line with silver dial

Zenith has added a third model variation, distinguished by a silver dial, to its Defy Extreme Diver line. Price of ref.95.9600.3620/01.I300 is €11,800

Zenith has added a third model variation, distinguished by a silvery-white dial, to its Defy Extreme Diver line, launched earlier this year with black or blue dials.

This new edition maintains all the technical features that we described in detail in our hands-on review of the Defy Extreme Diver with blue dial.

Housed in a 42.5 mm x 15.5 mm case crafted from a lightweight Grade 5 titanium alloy (titanium, aluminium and vanadium), the Defy Extreme Diver is at the top of the Defy range in terms of performance with a water resistance of 60 bar (600 meters / 2,000 feet).

The black ceramic unidirectional rotating bezel with grooved edges displays a 60-minute scale for measuring diving time or other events and rotates with 120 precise clicks.

On the caseband at 9 o'clock, there is a helium escape valve for saturation diving. This valve allows gas—which could otherwise increase the internal pressure and cause damage—to escape.

On the opposite side, the oversized screw-down crown is protected by two titanium guards that are integrated into the case design.

The new dial option is done in a silvery-white tone, with sunburst finish featuring rays emanating from the applied Zenith star at 12 o’clock. The date at 3 o’clock is colour-matched to the dial.

Paying homage to historical Defy diver models, a vibrant orange highlights the outer minute track, the tip of the seconds hand, and the inner segments of the hour and minute hands.

The generously sized hands and applied hour markers are coated with three distinct pigments of "X1" grade Super-LumiNova, emitting blue (minute hand and bezel triangle), green, and orange light.

The screwed-down sapphire crystal case back showcases the meticulously finished El Primero 3620-SC self-winding caliber.

This high-frequency manufacture movement operates at a frequency of 5 Hz (36,000 vibrations per hour) with a 60-hour power reserve. It features a paramagnetic escapement with key components in non-metallic silicon for improved resistance to magnetism.

Completing the Defy Extreme Diver is its titanium three-link bracelet as well as two supplied straps. The first additional strap is in black FKM rubber with a Cordura-effect texture. The second is an extra-long strap made of recycled fishing nets, intended to be worn over a wetsuit. 

The practical strap/bracelet exchange system makes the exchange process fast and easy.
