IWC Ingenieur Automatic 40 welcomes a blue dial to its lineup

IWC has enriched its Ingenieur collection with the new Ingenieur Automatic 40 IW328907, featuring a striking blue dial. 

This addition complements the existing lineup of three steel models with silver, black, and aqua dials (a shade blending green and blue), as well as the titanium version with a grey dial.

Introduced in 2023, the Ingenieur Automatic 40 pays homage to Genta’s bold Ingenieur design. It stands out with its hallmark bezel secured by five functional screws, an integrated bracelet, and a distinctive dial pattern.

Measuring 40 mm x 10.8 mm, the watch is crafted from stainless steel, with case, bezel, and bracelet finished using a combination of polished and satin-finished surfaces. 

The characteristic round bezel is screwed onto the case ring with five polygonal screws, emphasising the watch’s technical appeal.

Protected by a slightly curved sapphire crystal with antireflective coating on both sides, the striking blue dial features a “grid” structure, consisting of small lines and squares. It is stamped into the soft iron base using high pressure. Afterwards, the blue colour is applied with a PVD-coating. 

The rhodium-plated baton hands and the applied metal marker are all filled with Super-LumiNova for enhanced legibility in all lighting conditions.

The integrated  H-link bracelet of the Ingenieur Automatic 40 boasts closed links without pins and a butterfly folding clasp securing the watch to the wrist. Unlike the aqua version, which features polished central links, this version adopts the satin-brushed finish seen on the silver and black dial models.

Behind the solid case back, the IWC-manufactured 32111 calibre, featuring an automatic pawl winding system and offering a power reserve of 120 hours, operates at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour). 

A soft-iron inner case protects the movement from the effects of magnetic fields.
