Swiss manufacture Armin Strom unveils the Tribute2 Copper Edition, the latest addition to its Tribute collection.

Building on the success of the Tribute 1 launched in 2021, the Tribute2 merges traditional watchmaking craftsmanship with a contemporary aesthetic, embodying the brand's passion for 'transparent mechanics'—a hallmark of Armin Strom's creations. 

Staying true to its philosophy, the movement takes centre stage, prominently displayed as a defining feature of the watch.

Housed in a refined 38 mm x 9 mm stainless steel case, featuring a distinctive winding crown positioned at 2 o'clock for improved comfort on the wrist, the timepiece showcases a dial with exposed mechanical components and intricate hand-applied decorations. These elements, protected by an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, offer remarkable visual depth.

In particular, the Tribute2 Copper Edition, presented today and limited to just 10 pieces, is characterised by a copper-coloured mainplate created using a processing technique known as grattage. 

This process, originally developed by mechanical engineers to achieve perfectly flat surfaces, involves meticulously scraping the material by hand instead of engraving, hammering, or polishing.

For the mainplate of the Tribute2 Copper Edition, this technique is applied decoratively, giving each piece a look reminiscent of delicate brushstrokes. The unique finish is further enhanced by a copper-coloured PVD coating.

Encircled by a hand-bevelled and hand-polished steel ring, the off-centre fumé grey dial sees the vibrant highlights in the centre gradually transition into a darker tone at the edges. The hands and indexes are coated in 18K 5N rose gold for a warm and sophisticated touch.

The click, a small lever that prevents the mainspring barrel from unwinding unintentionally, is visible alongside the click bridge, which is enhanced by polished bevels. The winding wheels are finished with circular graining, adding a refined touch to the overall design.

The back of the movement, visible through the sapphire case back, showcases a three-quarter bridge with a 30° hand-polished bevel, Geneva stripes, and circular graining. The small, three-dimensional escapement wheel bridge and all other parts of the movement are meticulously finished by hand.

Operating at a frequency of 3.5 Hz (25,200 vibrations per hour), the AMW21 hand-wound movement, developed and manufactured in-house by Armin Strom, delivers a remarkable 100-hour power reserve. 

This performance is achieved through an innovative barrel design, where the arbor rotates around the mainspring, enhancing both efficiency and space conservation.

Precision and reliability are enhanced by a variable inertia balance wheel with a flat overcoil spring, supported by a bridge that echoes the barrel's design.

The logo on the back, “Horomariobro x Armin Strom,” acknowledges the contributions of Horomariobro, a close friend of the brand, who also inspired the Pure Resonance Ultimate Sapphire edition.

Paired with a grey Alcantara calfskin strap, the new Armin Strom Tribute2 Copper Edition (ref. ST24-TRI.HM.AC.M.A4.FC) is limited to 10 pieces and priced at CHF 27,000. arminstrom.com
