Our hands-on review of the Nomos Glashütte Tangente 2date with exclusive live pictures. Price of the Tangente 2date Ref. 135 is €2,360
With its recognisable yet clean design and exceptional versatility, the Tangente—the brand’s first timepiece, introduced in 1992—remains the best-selling model from Nomos Glashütte.
In 2019, the line was enriched by the Tangente Update, a 41 mm model that introduced an innovative date indication, displayed in the outer ring and using two contrasting red markings to frame the current date.
At the beginning of this October, the German watchmaker took another step forward with the launch of the Tangente 2date, introducing a second date display.
Following our initial presentation, we’re pleased to take a closer look and share our impressions and photos.
The new model is presented in two dial variations: white silver plated (ref. 135) or galvanized blue (ref. 136). For our review, we used the silver plated dial version.
The Tangente 2date features a 37.5 mm x 6.8 mm case crafted from stainless steel, with an elegant polished finish, minimal bezel, and angular lugs.
Beautifully proportioned, this case size suits most wrists comfortably (as a reference, the wrist in our photographs measures 17.8 cm / 7 in).
The bipartite case construction ensures water resistance up to 5 ATM (50 metres / 165 feet), making the watch splash-proof.
Protected by a flat sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on both faces, the white silver-plated dial features red date numerals and markers, enhancing its legibility and modern aesthetic.
The double date idea is intriguing and engaging: Nomos’ distinctive outer ring date provides an overview of the month, while the large window at 6 o'clock shows the current date at a glance.
The Tagente 2date innovation is enabled by the newly developed caliber DUW 4601, a 2.8mm-thick hand-wound movement. This marks the first time the Nomos ring date, previously available only in the Tangente neomatik and Metro neomatik Update models, appears in a hand-wound watch.
Adjusting the date is simple, even after the watch has been unworn. A quick half-turn of the crown per missed day, in the second of its three crown positions, efficiently updates the date.
Polished and rhodium-plated baton hour and minute hands, along with a snailed small seconds sub-dial at 6 o'clock and the signature Tangente typography, complete the refined dial.
Like the front, the case back is fitted with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, offering a view of the beautiful details and finishes of the DUW 4601 calibre.
Characterised by the typical three-quarter plate architecture and operating at a frequency of 3 Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour), this hand-wound movement is decorated with sunbeam ribbing that extends to the date ring plate, along with perlage, tempered blue screws, and gold-plated engravings.
The skeletonized balance cock reveals the Nomos swing system, the brand's proprietary escapement, which ensures superior precision and reliability, as well as the blue balance spring.
The mainspring barrel provides a power reserve of 52 hours when fully wound.
The watch is paired with a smooth yet durable rembordé strap in Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan leather, secured by a polished steel pin buckle engraved with the Nomos logo. The lug width is 19 mm.
The Nomos Glashütte Tangente 2date is priced at €2,360 / US2,760 for both the white silver-plated dial (ref. 135) and the galvanized blue dial (ref. 136) versions.
Combining simplicity and sophistication, the Nomos Glashütte Tangente 2date presents a distinctive style, high-quality finishes, and an attractively crafted in-house manufacture movement. The price aligns with the flawless execution of this timepiece.

Nice pictures. I like your reviews. Not sure that the second date has some utility but it is fun and the dial looks more interesting, so why not?
