Introducing the Grøne Manueel One. From the Grönefeld brothers, a new line of accessible watches created for a broader audience. Price €2,150

Bart and Tim Grönefeld, the Dutch 'Horological Brothers' that founded the eponymous brand Grönefeld, are introducing Grøne Oldenzaal, a new line of mechanical watches created for a broader audience at affordable prices.

While led and overseen by the brothers, Grøne is distinct from their atelier watch brand Grönefeld.

The inaugural timepiece of the new brand is the Manueel One—nicknamed ‘Sjef’s One’ after Bart and Tim’s father, Sjef Grönefeld.

The watch comes in a 38.5 mm case in 316L stainless steel with a polished finish. It has a thickness of 10 mm including the domed sapphire crystal, or 9 mm without it.

The dial features a tremblage salmon centre surrounded by a two-step brushed rhodium-plated ring on which highly polished diamond-cut baton markers are hand-applied, with an overhang at the tip that optically floats above the central area.

The applied metallic Grøne logo has a three-dimensional effect. The words 'Oldenzaal,' 'Manueel,' and 'Netherlands' are printed in the same shade of blue as the hands.

The Grøne Manueel One leverages a decorated Swiss-made hand-wound Sellita SW210 that has been torque-adjusted for an improved crown-winding feel. A hacking seconds mechanism is also featured.

Operating at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour), this hand-wound movement guarantees a power reserve of 42 hours.

The solid caseback is engraved with a reproduction of an ancient map of Oldenzaal from 1626, with the Grönefeld logo marking the current location of the brand. This choice of a solid caseback pays homage to the heritage of the Grönefeld brothers, who represent the third generation of watchmakers in their family, continuing a legacy that began with their grandfather and spans over a century of horological craftsmanship. 

Around the edge, a Dutch saying is engraved: “ZOALS HET KLOKJE THUIS TIKT – TIKT HET NERGENS,” which translates to "AS THE CLOCK TICKS AT HOME – IT TICKS AT ITS BEST."

Paired with a calf leather strap secured to the wrist by a steel pin buckle (lug width 20 mm), the new Grøne Manueel One has a price of €2,150 (excluding local sales taxes).
