In the world of horology, asymmetrical watches offer a daring challenge to convention. Unlike traditional circular or rectangular designs, these timepieces find beauty in unbalanced proportions. Cartier’s Crash stands as a familiar example, subtly reshaping the expectations of a watch’s form.

The Mirage Sienna by Berneron follows this tradition with a unique twist as its asymmetry arises directly from the movement itself.

Rather than imposing an external shape, Berneron allows the movement itself to dictate the watch’s lines. As a result, the Mirage Sienna exhibits an asymmetrical balance that feels organic, with its calibre embracing features like a large barrel, a pocket-watch-inspired balance wheel, and a direct small seconds mechanism. 

Every visible component of the Mirage Sienna is crafted from 18k yellow gold, from the case and dial to the hands, buckle, spring bars, and even the movement's main plate and bridges. 

Compact and slim, the case measures 34 x 38 mm, with a height of just 7 mm and a lug-to-lug span of 42 mm. This slender profile, combined with gold’s substantial weight, creates a unique presence on the wrist.

Protected by a a top hesalite crystal with scratch-resistant coating, the Mirage Sienna's dial features applied indices and an inverted hand set, with the hour hand set atop the minute hand.

The hand-wound Calibre 233 can be appreciated through the transparent sapphire caseback. Operating at a frequency of 3 Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour), this hand-wound movement offers a practical 72-hour power reserve (3 days).

The finishes techniques used include guillochage on the bridges, colimaçonnage on the crown wheel, and anglage on the bridge edges.

Water resistant to 3 ATM (30 metres / 100 feet ), the watch is complemented by a sienna-toned Barenia leather strap. 

The Berneron Mirage Sienna 38 mm (ref. 3438MS.G02) is priced at CHF 61,000 (excluding local sales taxes). With its limited production of just twelve pieces per year, this timepiece is currently sold out, with orders reopening in 2025. berneron.ch
