Cyrus is unveiling the Klepcys GMT Royal Purple, a sophisticated and user-friendly GMT model distinguished by its vivid purple dial.
This model features a three-dimensional openworked dial that showcases an original palm-tree-shaped upper bridge, revealing the intricate movement beneath. An easy-to-read semi-arc indicates the retrograde 24-hour second time zone.
Building on the Klepcys GMT Palm Green and Ocean Blue 2023 editions, which introduced the first titanium bracelet alongside a Cordura strap and are now also available with a matching alligator strap, Cyrus presents its GMT model in this striking new shade.
A GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) function, also known as "second time zone" or "dual time," lets you track two time zones at once: local time and home time.
The Klepcys GMT Palm Green features a smart, user-friendly implementation of this function, thanks to its in-house movement. The openworked upper bridge, shaped like a palm tree in striking purple, is visible on the dial side, revealing some of the gears that power the mechanism. The purple hue is obtained by ALD (Atomic Layer Deposition) treatment, a vacuum atomic layer deposition technique that generates a perfectly uniform and homogeneous coating, while providing superior protection against corrosion.
On the first level of the multi-layered dial, the openworked rhodium-plated hour and minute hands indicate the local time on a transparent antireflective sapphire disc with large Arabic numerals.
The home time is indicated by a white hand with triangular luminescent tip that moves along a 24-hour retrograde display in matt grey lacquer. This is interrupted at 6 o'clock by the small seconds counter decorated with small raised triangles and treated with anthracite grey. The small second hand has the shape of a purple three-armed helix, the symbol of the brand. When the white hand with the triangular tip reaches the 24 at 5 o'clock, it makes a jump to the 24 at 7 o'clock so that it never hides the small seconds sub-dial.
All hands, indices and numerals are treated with white Super-LumiNova emitting a long-lasting blue glow for improved legibility in dark conditions.
The signature cushion-shaped case of the Klepcys is crafted from grade 5 polished/satin finished titanium, a material renowned for its hypoallergenic properties and lightness. Measuring 42 mm in diameter with a thickness of 13.9 mm, it is water-resistant to 10 ATM (100 metres / 330 feet).
The raised bezel has a square base with curved sides and corners that are enhanced by polished facets and a matt satin-finished top that frames the anti-reflective sapphire crystal.
Thanks to short and slightly curved lugs, the watch sits very comfortably on the wrist.
Setting the second time zone is intuitive and easy thanks to the two symmetrical crowns, featuring a caoutchouc rubber ring for improved grip.
The crown at 3 o'clock winds the movement in position 0 and adjust the hour and minute hands of local time when pulled out to position 1. When you perform this operation, the white retrograde hand indicating the home time turns together with the local time hands.
The crown at 9 o'clock is used to set the local time. By pressing the pusher on the crown, the local time hand moves forward by one hour jump to set the desired time, for example when you arrive to a new destination. During the adjustment, the indications of the minutes and the home time remain unchanged.
The transparent sapphire crystal case back reveals the manufacture automatic movement, Calibre CYR708, operating at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) with a 55-hour power reserve.
The single-block oscillating mass, openworked with a sunray pattern, is engraved with the motto “The Conquest of Innovation” and ALD-coated in Royal Purple to match the dial colour.
The anthracite grey NAC bridges are decorated with slightly curved sunrays in a satin and microbillé finish. The case back is sealed with customised screws bearing the Maison's three-armed helix symbol.
Limited in production, the new Cyrus Klepcys GMT Royal Purple is priced at CHF 22,650 with a Cordura strap, CHF 23,350 with an alligator strap, and CHF 24,000 with a titanium bracelet. cyrus-watches.ch
