Mido presents the Ocean Star 39 in black

Mido recently launched the Ocean Star 39 line to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the collection. Among the new models is the Ocean Star 39 in black with striking orange accents, one of Mido’s signature colours.

Adding to the stainless steel models (read our review here), the Ocean Star 39 ref. M026.907.37.051.00 comes in a black PVD-treated stainless steel case featuring screw-down crown and screw-on case back to withstand pressures of up to 20 bar (200 metres / 660 feet).

Well proportioned with a  diameter of 39 mm and a thickness of just 10.5 mm, the case is equipped with a 120-click unidirectional rotating bezel with a black aluminium ring featuring a 60-minute graduation. 

An orange Super-LumiNova dot at 12 o'clock can be used to mark the start of dive time or any other timed event.

The black dial showcases relief patterns reminiscent of waves carving ripples into the seabed sand. Orange Super-LumiNova on the indexes, hands and unidirectional rotating bezel adds vibrance to the black dial which also features a date aperture at 6 o’clock. The anti-reflective treatment on both sides of the sapphire crystal ensures perfect legibility.

The solid caseback, engraved with the iconic starfish, conceals the self-winding Caliber 72 (based on ETA A31.111), beating at the frequency of 3.5 Hz (25,200 vibrations per hour) and offering a power reserve of 72 hours.

Its Nivachron balance-spring is made from a titanium-based metal alloy to reduce the effect of magnetic fields while improving accuracy over time and resistance to shocks.
