Perrelet Turbine Splash: a celebration of colour

Perrelet has recently presented the Turbine Splash, a 99-piece limited edition timepiece distinguished by its artistic and colourful design.

This model draws its name from the dynamic splashes of colour that adorn the lower dial. Irregular stains of fluorescent green, yellow, purple, fuchsia, light blue, and orange stand out against a black background, reminiscent of Jackson Pollock's 'dripping' technique from the 1940s and 1950s.

The Turbine Splash features a sub-dial dominated by the Turbine, which alternately reveals and obscures the splashes of colour as it rotates. 

The mechanism consists of 12 blades rotating around a central axis, activated by each movement of the wrist. As the turbine spins, the spaces between the blades reveal the decorative image beneath, with the visibility of the colors increasing in proportion to the rotation speed.

Crafted from black anodized aluminum, the blades are balanced by five heavy tungsten micro-weights on the underside, ensuring perfect balance. 

The round case, measuring 44 mm in diameter and 13.82 mm in thickness, is ultra-light thanks to the use of high-tech materials, polycarbonate and forged carbon fibre, complemented by a flat bezel  in black PVD bezel.

The case middle in carbon fibre is decorated with vertical grooves. Thanks to its thermal insulation properties, carbon fibre also protects the movement from temperature variations. 

A further touch of colour comes from the outlines of the baton indices in the same shades as the lower dial (neon green, yellow, purple, fuchsia, light blue, orange), which contrast with the hour this model, Perrelet uses tritium indices (T25) which are hermetically sealed in borosilicate tubes in the form of gas. Inside is a phosphor layer which, when activated by tritium electrons, emits a sharp, long-lasting glow. 

The large dagger-shaped hands coated with white luminescent material ensure excellent legibility of the hours, while the red central seconds hand stands out against the turbine background. 

The watch is powered by the self-winding P-331-MH calibre, certified as a chronometre by both the COSC and Chronofiable, having passed the rigorous tests of these two independent institutes. 

Equipped with a 42-hour power reserve and beating at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour), the movement and its finishes can be admired through the sapphire crystal porthole set in the black PVD steel caseback ring. The openworked oscillating weight is mounted on ball bearings and adorned with the Maison's logo.
