Nomos Glashütte is introducing the new Ahoi neomatik 38 date Atlantic, a sporty model characterised by the deep blue of its dial which adds to the sky blue and golden sand shades that we reviewed last year, creating a nice Summer trio.

The German watchmaker has previously used the Ahoi blue dial for the Ahoi Atlantic Date 40 and Ahoi neomatik Atlantic 36.

Referring to a signal word used by people in boats to attract attention, the Ahoi name highlights the connection of this model to the maritime world, both for its dial colour and for its waterproofness - up to a pressure of 20 ATM (200 metres / 660 feet) - which makes the watch suitable also for diving. 

The watch comes in a round stainless case with a diameter of 38.5 mm and two guards protecting the screw-down crown from impacts. An evident red crown stem warns when the crown is not fully screwed down. 

The size is ideal for most wrists and, at a height of 9.9 mm (or 9.8 mm if you opt for a stainless steel caseback instead of a sapphire crystal one), the watch is thin enough to slip under a shirt cuff.

Protected by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment inside and outside, the dark blue dial offer an optimal contrast to the white indexes/numerals, the sand-coloured hour markers on the outer ring, and the rhodium-plated hands. All of them are coated with Super-LumiNova glowing green in low-light conditions.

The red seconds hand of the snailed small seconds sub-dial at 6 o'clock adds a vibrant touch to the ensemble. As its name suggests, this reference also features a large date display, positioned at 3 o'clock.

The "neomatik" inscription appearing just below the logo of the brand is used to identify the models driven by Nomos’ in-house ultra-thin neomatik movements.

Through the transparent sapphire crystal case back fixed with six screws, it is possible to appreciate the Nomos neomatik DUW 6101 calibre, a 3 Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour) automatic movement offering 42 hours of power reserve and equipped with a stop-seconds mechanism along with a date indicator.

This slim calibre is only 3.6 mm thick and features many distinctive traits of the movements produced by the German watchmaker, including a three-quarter plate architecture, ribbing polish, thermally-blued screws, and a tempered blue balance spring denoting the proprietary swing system, adjusted according to chronometer standards."

The bidirectional winding rotor is enriched by gold-plated embossing. 

As an alternative to the sapphire crystal caseback, Nomos Glashütte offers the option to choose a solid stainless steel back, ideal for engravings. 

The new Nomos Glashütte Ahoi neomatik 38 date Atlantic is equipped with high-quality waterproof textile strap in blue-black with a winged steel clasp. A number of strap/bracelet options are optionally available. The lug width measures 20 mm. Its price is € 3,820 with a sapphire crystal back (ref. 528) or € 3,520 with a solid back (ref. 518).
