Introducing the Mido Ocean Star 39

Mido unveiled the Ocean Star 39 dive watch, which introduces a new case size with a 39mm diameter, a first for the collection. Prices from €1,190
Mido is unveiling a new addition to its Ocean Star range, the Ocean Star 39, which introduces a new case size with a 39 mm diameter, a first for the collection.

Mido Ocean Star 39

The new release celebrates the 80th anniversary of the Ocean Star, a model that established the Swiss watch brand as a pioneer in water resistance since 1944.

The reduced diameter of 39 mm of the Ocean Star 39 is combined to a thickness of just 10.5 mm for optimal case proportions.

The stainless steel case is equipped with a unidirectional rotating bezel with an aluminium ring featuring a 60-minute graduation and a white Super-LumiNova dot at 12 o'clock to mark the start of the dive time.

The screw-down crown contributes to make the watch water resistant up to a pressure of 20 bar (200 metres / 660 feet).

Protected by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides, the dial is characterised by an undulating motif in relief and features large round indexes and hour and minutes hands, all enhanced by white Super-LumiNova for perfect legibility even in darker environments. A date window at 3 o'clock completes the dial indications.

Four variations have been presented at launch.

Reference M026.907.11.041.00 is defined by a navy blue to black gradient dial paired with a bi-colour bezel insert.

Reference M026.907.11.061.00 plays on gray tones with a grey to black gradient enlivened by a touch of orange on the tip of the seconds hand.

The champagne dial of reference M026.907.21.021.00 is combined to a steel bezel enhanced by its yellow gold colour PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) coating.

These three models come in satin-brushed and polished stainless steel and are paired with three-link bracelets featuring folding clasps with diver extensions, allowing for optimal adjustment on the wrist. They also include convenient bars with a spur system for tool-free changes. The lug width is 20 mm.

A fourth version (ref. M026.907.37.051.00) comes in black PVD-coated stainless steel with a black dial against which orange indexes and hands stand out prominently. This reference is complemented with a black rubber strap.

Behind screw-down case backs adorned with the iconic starfish emblem of the Ocean Star, the Mido automatic caliber 72 (based on ETA A31.111) operates reliably at 25,200 vibrations per hour, boasting a power reserve of 72 hours.

Its Nivachron balance-spring is made in a titanium-based metal alloy that contributes to reduce the effect of magnetic fields while improving accuracy over time and resistance to shocks.

The new Mido Ocean Star 39 has a suggested retail price of € 1,190 / US$ 1,100 except for the black-PVD-coated version which is priced at € 1,260 / US$ 1,170. midowatches.com
