Blancpain expands its Bathyscaphe line with two full gold models: Bathyscaphe Quantième Complet 5054 3640 76S and Chronograph Flyback. Price €61,000
Blancpain is expanding its Bathyscaphe range with two new models in full red gold: the Bathyscaphe Quantième Complet (ref. 5054 3640 76S) and the Chronographe Flyback (ref. 5200-3640-76S).
These timepieces, featuring cases and bracelets made from 18K red gold, stand out for their warm hue and strong presence. Their water resistance is guaranteed up to a pressure of 30 bar (300 metres / 990 feet).
The Bathyscaphe was launched in 1956, three years after the introduction of the original Fifty Fathoms model (whose history you can read in our article "History of the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms"), as a smaller diameter diving watch suitable for daily wear.
Both models are paired with a new 18K red gold bracelet whose production involves a series of demanding assembly and finishing processes. The hand satin-brushed links are joined together by means of transverse pins, endowing them with a flexibility that ensures a perfect fit on the wrist. Based on a patented system, the screws are placed on the back of the links to preserve the smooth look and feel of the bracelet edges. The lug width is 23 mm.
Framed by a unidirectional rotating bezel with a blue ceramic insert adorned with Ceragold markers for added contrast, the dials of these timepieces feature an elegant blue gradient with a sunray finish, adding depth and luminosity. The contrast with the case and bracelet enhances their striking appearance.
Measuring 43 mm x 13.40 mm, the Bathyscaphe Quantième Complet features a complete calendar with a moon phases display. Each indication can be handled at any time independently of the others and without any risk to the movement.
This model is powered by the 6654.P self-winding calibre, operating at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) with a 72-hour power reserve provided by its two barrels. This manufacture movement is equipped with a silicon balance-spring, making it highly resistant to magnetism.
The Haute Horlogerie finishes—which include techniques such as bevelling, circular graining, and snailing—and the efficient gold oscillating weight can be appreciated through the transparent sapphire crystal caseback.
The Bathyscaphe Chronographe Flyback also measures 43 mm in diameter and is slightly thicker at 14.90 mm. This flyback chronograph is driven by Blancpain's self-winding Calibre F385, a state-of-the-art in-house movement drawing on Blancpain's vertical clutch design that ensures smooth engagement of the chronograph mechanism.
The chronograph start, stop, and reset functions are controlled via a column wheel, enabling smooth operation of the pushers. The F385 beats at a frequency of 5 Hz (36,600 vibrations per hour), offering increased timekeeping accuracy compared to lower frequencies, especially when timing events. Its power reserve ifs 50 hours.
The inertia-regulated balance wheel is enhanced by a spring made of silicon – a material with anti-magnetic properties that enable the watch to dispense with the inner Faraday cage.
Paired with the new gold bracelets, the Blancpain Bathyscaphe Quantième Complet, ref. 5054 3640 76S, and the Bathyscaphe Chronographe Flyback, ref. 5200 3640 76S, have a suggested retail price of €61,000. Both models are also available with a blue NATO or sailcloth strap at the price of €37,200. blancpain.com
