Certina releases the new DS SUPER PH1000M STC for sea turtle conservation

Certina introduced the new DS SUPER PH1000M STC (ref. C024.907.17.041.10) in support of sea turtle conservation.

Certina began using a turtle as its symbol in 1959 to represent robustness and longevity. It was only natural that, in 2017, the Swiss brand would start a partnership with the non-profit Sea Turtle Conservancy (STC), cooperating to protect sea turtles and their habitats.

Certina is now presenting a special edition dedicated to STC, the DS SUPER PH1000M STC, a diver's watch offering water resistance to 100 bar (1,000 metres / 3,330 feet).

Its tonneau-shaped case in satin-finished 316L stainless steel measures 43.5 mm x 14.1 mm and is equipped with a helium outlet valve at 9 o'clock. 

The fluted rotating bezel features an aluminium ring in the blue-green of the STC logo, which is also used for the dial.

A security system requires the bezel to be pushed against the case to rotate.

Protected by a sapphire crystal with antireflection treatment on the inner side, the blue-green dial is enlivened by orange accents.

The large indices and the hands are filled with white Super-LumiNova coating to ensure excellent readability underwater or in darker environments. 

The orange colour is reprised for the stitching of the black FKM rubber strap, fastened to the wrist by a stainless steel pin buckle.

Behind a solid case back engraved with the Sea Turtle Conservancy logo, the automatic ETA Powermatic 80.611 operates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of 80 hours. Thanks to its Nivachron balance spring, it is particularly resistant to magnetic fields.
