The latest result of the partnership between TAG Heuer and Porsche is the Carrera Chronograph X Porsche 963, a timepiece inspired by the Porsche 963 and limited to just 963 pieces worldwide – a nod to the name of the racing car.

Partners since 2021, when they launched the Carrera Porsche Chronograph Special Edition 44mm, the two super brands share deep roots in motorsports, with a common thread being the Carrera name itself, a reference to the legendary Carrera Panamericana race, reputed to be one of the most dangerous in the world.

Another race that both TAG Heuer and Porsche are historically connected to is the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Porsche’s history at Le Mans is legendary, with 19 overall wins, making them the most successful manufacturer in the history of the race.

The development of the Porsche 963, governed by the LMDh (Le Mans Daytona Hybrid) regulations, demonstrates Porsche’s commitment to innovation. As the pinnacle of Porsche’s engineering expertise, the 963 has been gathering victories on many famous racetracks across the globe.

To celebrate the allure of endurance racing, TAG Heuer is now launching the Carrera Chronograph x Porsche 963, characterised by the racing colours of Porsche motorsport:  white, red, and black.

The watch comes in a 44 mm x 15.1 mm case made of finely brushed and polished stainless steel, enriched by black PVD-finished, fine-grained, hollowed sides decorated with a 3D Porsche logo.

It is equipped with a black forged carbon tachymeter fixed bezel, with grey markings and a white Super-LumiNova “PORSCHE” logo.

Protected by a beveled, domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment, the skeleton dial features tubular shapes reminiscent of Porsche’s racing car chassis, reflecting the robust construction seen in motorsport. 

The sub-dials feature four Super-LumiNova (SLN) blocks inspired by Porsche’s innovative LED light design on the modern-day Porsche 911. In the dark, the SLN blocks and SLN-coated date revealer illuminate the Porsche-inspired design elements, enhancing the watch’s visual appeal and practicality.

These details are particularly important for a watch that will be used in 24-hour endurance races, as drivers will be racing day and night.

The positioning of the red indexes at 4 o'clock refers to the countdown to race start.

Boasting a red column wheel, the TH20-00 calibre and its oscillating mass, reminiscent of Porsche’s iconic steering wheel motif, can be appreciated through the transparent sapphire crystal caseback.

This in-house automatic chronograph movement operates at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) and offers a power reserve of 80 hours.

The watch’s rubber strap is inspired by the NACA-style low-drag air inlets, often featured on Porsche race cars. It is secured to the wrist by a stainless steel folding clasp with double safety push-button.
