Longines is launching the new Pilot Majetek Titanium Pioneer Edition, a 1935-piece limited edition in Grade 5 titanium. Price €5,400
Longines is launching the new Pilot Majetek Titanium Pioneer Edition, a special version of the pilot's watch that the winged hourglass brand reintroduced to the market in 2023 (you can follow the link at the end of the article to read our hands-review).
The new Pilot Majetek Pioneer Edition, ref. L2.838.1.53.2, comes in Grade 5 titanium, an alloy that is both lighter and stronger than steel, and is limited to 1,935 pieces.
This number is a nod to the year of release of the original Majetek: 1935. Designed for the Czechoslovak Air Force, this robust model featured a rotating bezel with a moving luminous hour marker that was used to provide a reference point to mark departure times or to time the flight from each new change of course.
It was nicknamed Majetek because it had the caseback engraved with the words "Majetek Vojenske Spravy" (which means "Property of the Czechoslovak army"). Its distinctive case design was registered on April 1, 1935, at the International Industrial Property Office in Bern, Switzerland.
Measuring 43 mm x 13.30 mm, the cushion-shaped case of the Pilot Majetek Titanium is mainly satin-brushed with some polished surfaces to highlight the dynamic design. The short lugs are characterised by straight angles. Two robust guards protect the screwed-in fluted crown from impacts.
The left side of the caseband is fitted with a commemorative plate marked "1935" which refers to the model's year of birth.
The fluted bezel rotates in both directions and is coupled to the 'starting time indicator', an internal luminescent mobile triangle marker displayed below the sapphire crystal and above the dial.
On the historic 1935 model, the bezel and the glass fitted with the marker rotated as a single unit. In today’s model, the sapphire crystal is fixed to improve water-resistance.
The matt grained black dial provides the ideal contrast to the large grey hands and the raised Arabic numerals, all treated with Super-LumiNova glowing in blue, for improved readability in darker environments.
The functional dial is completed by a railway minute marker and an oversized small seconds sub-dial positioned at 6 o’clock on a lower level.
The solid case back is engraved with “PIONEER EDITION / ONE OF 1935” and states that the watch is officially certified as a chronometer by COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètrer), as well as magnetic resistant and waterproof up to 10 bar (100 metres / 330 feet).
Behind it, the Longines L893.6 calibre operates at 25,200 vibrations per hour with a 72-hour power reserve.
Thanks to its magnetically resistant silicon balance spring, this self-winding movement offers resistance to magnetism that exceeds the requirements of the ISO 674 standard by a factor of more than ten, thus improving accuracy and reliability over time.
Paired with a black technical fabric strap with a Grade 5 titanium tongue buckle (lug width is 22 mm), the new Longines Pilot Majetek Titanium, Pioneer Edition (ref. L2.838.1.53.2), has a suggested retail price of € 5,400 / US$ 5,000. longines.com

Damn, when I saw the teaser I was hoping for a smaller Majetek release to accommodate medium to small wrists. Unfortunately, its a huge but beautiful watch for our large-wristed enthusiasts :)
ReplyDeleteThis is really cool and different. I like it a lot. Need to try it on my wrist.
