Jaeger-LeCoultre unveils the Polaris Geographic

Jaeger-LeCoultre has unveiled the Polaris Geographic, enriching the Polaris collection —revived in 2018— with the Maison’s signature travel time complication.

Housed in a case characterized by taut lines, a narrow bezel framing a glass-box crystal, and two crowns, the Polaris Geographic is a versatile, sporty-elegant watch that offers a clever implementation of the dual time complication.

Measuring 42 mm x 11.54 mm, the case is crafted from stainless steel and enhanced by alternating satin-brushed and polished surfaces. Water resistance is ensured up to a pressure of 10 bar (100 meters / 330 feet).

The lacquer dial features an ocean-grey color applied in a double gradient finish to add visual depth. Coated with 35 layers of lacquer, it displays the typical asymmetric layout, with the second time zone in a sub-dial at 6 o’clock and the power reserve indicator between 9 and 10 o'clock.

The large Arabic numerals and elongated trapezoid indexes, along with the skeletonized hands, are generously filled with Super-LumiNova for improved legibility in darker environments. The orange accents enliven the ensemble.

Rather than merely indicating the hour of a second time zone, the Geographic complication also features a 24-hour night and day indicator and, in an aperture at the bottom of the dial, displays the name of a city corresponding to each of the 24 major time zones, including those observing daylight savings.

This allows travelers to set the second time zone according to their location (by turning the crown at 10 o’clock), eliminating the need to calculate the time difference manually. When a city is selected, the corresponding time is automatically displayed.

Thanks to a stop-seconds feature, this second time zone is accurate to the hour, minute, and second.

The sapphire crystal case-back reveals the Manufacture Calibre 939, a self-winding movement operating at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour). Designed, produced, finished and assembled within its own Manufacture, the movement features an efficient openworked oscillating weight which buils a power reserve of up to 70 hours.

The watch comes with an interchangeable folding buckle and two interchangeable straps – textured black rubber and blue-grey canvas – allowing for a quick change in style without the need for any tools. The lug width is 21 mm.
