Christopher Ward presented The Twelve X, the first Twelve model to be powered by the company’s in-house movement, Calibre SH21, which is also used in other flagship models within the brand's lineup such as the C60 Apex.

The Twelve X is also the first iteration of The Twelve to be fully skeletonised, stripping away the traditional dial to reveal the mechanical movement’s workings from the front of the watch.

Other premieres in this collection are the combined use of both Grade 5 and Grade 2 titanium in its case, and the new micro-adjustable bracelet, featuring a quick-adjustment mechanism for rapid length modification within a 3 mm range.

Grade 5 titanium – an alloy of titanium, aluminium and vanadium – is used for the bezel and case back, allowing for improved finishing and separation between satin-brush and mirror polishing. The harder Grade 2 titanium is employed for all other parts of the 41 mm x 12.30 mm case. 

The dial’s minute track and the hands are filled with Super-LumiNova Grade X1 BL C1, while Globolight – a ceramic and Super-LumiNova mix which can be sculpted in any shape – is used for the ‘wedge’ at 12 o’ clock.

Operating at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) and certified by COSC as a chronometre, the Calibre SH21 features a twin-barrel design that builds a 120-hour power reserve. In this skeletonised architecture, it is possible to view these barrels winding and unwinding while wearing the watch on the wrist.

The Twelve X also features box crystals on both sides, allowing for a view of the open-worked oscillating weight on the case back.
