Bulgari unveils new Octo Roma models in black DLC steel

Bulgari has expanded its Octo Roma collection with the addition of the Octo Roma Automatic Black DLC 103927 and the Octo Roma Chronograph Black DLC 103932, two new models characterised by cases in black DLC steel, black dials, and black rubber straps, for a bold yet elegant appearance.

DLC stands for Diamond-Like Carbon, a high-performance coating that gives the watch a distinctive dark surface finish while enhancing its resistance to scratches and corrosion.

Inspired by architecture, the Octo Roma features an octagonal-shaped case paired with a round bezel. The geometries and surface textures are designed to accentuate its dynamic lines.

Clear and easy to read, the dials of both the automatic models and the chronographs are enhanced by a refined Clous de Paris decoration forming a series of small pyramids. The hours and minutes hands are enhanced with Super-LumiNova, just as the hour markers and the Arabic numerals.

Incorporated into the case and safeguarded by crown protectors, the crown is embellished by a black ceramic insert and screwed-down to ensure water resistance up to a pressure of 10 bar (corresponding to a depth of 100 meters / 330 feet).

The Octo Roma Automatic Black DLC 103927 is a three-hand model with a date function. The black dial appears uniform from a distance, but as one approaches, each pyramid-shaped Clou de Paris captures light from its own unique angle, creating an intriguing play of light.

The 41 mm x 9.15 mm case houses the in-house Calibre BVL 191 operating at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) and offering a power reserve of 42 hours. Its decorations with Côtes de Genève motif and chamfering can be appreciated through the transparent case back.

The Octo Roma Chronograph Black DLC 103932 comes in a slightly larger case (42 mm x 12.4 mm) with two pushers perfectly integrated into the case, following through directly from the lugs. 

The dial features a tricompax layout with three snailed subdials: a 30-minute chronograph counter at 9 o’clock, a 12-hour chronograph counter at 6 o’clock, and running seconds at 3 o’clock. A discreet date window is positioned at 4:30. 

Beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), the in-house self-winding movement, Calibre BVL 399, offers 42 hours of autonomy and is decorated with Côtes de Genève motif and chamfering.

These models are equipped with an interchangeable wristband system placed on the reverse side in the form of a pusher integrated with the mass of the case, between the lugs. Particularly secure, the system requires no special tool; a simple click is enough to change the remove the strap in a few seconds. 

The watches are delivered with two straps: a black rubber strap complementing the watches are embellished by a ‘Clous de Paris’ pattern that harmonises with the dial decoration along with an additional black alligator strap to emphasise the elegance of the timepiece. They are fastened to the wrist by pin buckles made of black DLC steel.
