SEVENFRIDAY unveils the FREE-D B

SEVENFRIDAY introduces the FREE-D B, an unconventional wristwatch created using 3D printing technology. Price CHF 5,000

Following the launch of the disruptive FREE-D in 2022, SEVENFRIDAY further develops the concept by presenting another unconventional wristwatch, the FREE-D B.

The main structure of this model is crafted from PA11 and PA12 - a castor-oil polyamide, organic and sustainable - using an advanced 3D printing system by Hewlett Packard.

Relatively new to the watchmaking industry, this material has been tested, proven, and used for some time in the medical, aerospace, and racing sectors. This polyamide is light, durable, and yet highly flexible. Thus, it is suitable for both medical instrument production and crafting intricate watches. Its sustainability is an additional benefit.

Leveraging additive manufacturing technology allows the creation of intricate shapes that would otherwise be challenging to produce, while also ensuring lightness, flexibility, and durability.

Reminiscent of an insect, the ‘shell’ of the FREE-D B protects the 45.2 mm x 45 mm time capsule made from 316L stainless steel, with a domed sapphire glass with inner antireflective coating to protect the dial. The dial, available in turquoise, white, or pink, is also crafted from castor-oil polyamide material.

Time is indicated through dedicated sectors using stainless steel arrows and three concentric discs, representing hours at 12 o'clock, and running seconds and minutes at 6 o'clock.

The time adjustment is performed using the screwed-in crown at 12 o'clock, contributing to water resistance up to 3 bar (approximately 30 metres / 100 feet).

The movement of choice is the Swiss automatic movement Sellita SW300-1 that beats at the frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) with an autonomy of 38 hours.

As usual for SEVENFRIDAY, the timepiece is equipped with a NFC (Near Field Communication) chip enabling the authentication and warranty registration of the watch using the brand's proprietary app.

The colour-matching hand-stitched calf skin leather straps are enriched by 3D printed inserts in PA11 polyamide.

The FREE-D B is delivered in a special packaging produced in one single sequence with the same 3d printing solution used for the watch.

 

Produced in limited editions of 30 pieces per colour, the FREE-D B will be exclusively available on the SEVENFRIDAY app and select retail locations. Its suggested retail price is CHF 5,000. sevenfriday.com
