Timepieces from the collection of Michael Schumacher will be offered at Christie's Rare Watches auction in Geneva (May 13, 2024)

Celebrating the 30th anniversary of Michael Schumacher’s inaugural Formula 1 Drivers Championship victory in 1994, Christie’s is delighted to unveil a curated selection of timepieces from the private collection of one of F1's most illustrious champions.

Scheduled for 13th May 2024 at the Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues in Geneva, the Rare Watches auction will showcase a dedicated section featuring these remarkable timepieces, each reflecting pivotal moments in the career of the renowned German driver.

In a career spanning three decades, Michael Schumacher undoubtedly stands as one of Formula One's most successful drivers, leaving an enduring legacy in the sport.

Of particular significance among the offered timepieces is the white gold Audemars Piguet Royal Oak chronograph, commissioned as a gift for Michael Schumacher by Jean Todt, his mentor at Ferrari. 

Commemorating Schumacher's then six F1 victories, the bespoke dial features Ferrari’s iconic prancing horse emblem on the subsidiary seconds dial. Additionally, the 30-minute register dial displays the numeral '1' surrounded by 6 stars representing Schumacher’s World Championship victories from 1994 to 2003. Notably, the 12-hour register showcases Schumacher’s red racing helmet.

This deeply personal piece of F1 memorabilia also includes an engraved dedication on the caseback, commemorating Schumacher's six F1 World Championship wins.

Another personal piece of Formula 1 memorabilia, is a unique F.P. Journe Vagabondage 1 Model timepiece, dating from circa 2004, featuring a bespoke dial and bearing an engraved personal gift dedication on the 18k gold movement. 

Around the circumference of the red dial there are symbols representing Michael Schumacher’s seven F1 World Championship victories achieved by 2004 along with Schumacher’s racing helmet and the Ferrari emblem. 

This model was christened the ‘Vagabondage’ in homage to its wandering jump-hours display around a central visible balance.
