Glashütte Original is launching the Serenade Luna, a new line of timepieces for Ladies with moon phase display. Prices from €11,200
Glashütte Original is launching the Serenade Luna, a new line of timepieces for Ladies that combines a small and elegant size with technical excellence and refined design.
A new mechanical movement with moon phase display, the self-winding Calibre 35, was developed specifically for the slim case of the Serenade Luna, measuring 32.5 mm in diameter with a total thickness of 8.9 mm.
A master in the intricate art of crafting moon phase complications, with the Serenade Luna Glashütte Original is now presenting a fresh take on this timeless display. The mother-of-pearl moon, showcased in a round cut-out at 6 o'clock on the dial, takes center stage, surrounded by a night sky adorned with delicate stars within the dial's slim, radiant ring.
A novel construction approach is evident in the moon phase display of the Serenade Luna. The flat disc, rotating beneath the dial window, covers nearly the entire calibre. Ingeniously integrated by the manufactory’s engineers, this space-saving design doesn't contribute to the movement's height.
The disc, coated with a thin layer of mother-of-pearl, features four circles positioned at regular intervals, representing the night sky. The profile varies with options of shimmering dark Tahitian mother-of-pearl inlays or carefully applied dark blue lacquer on the underside. Delicate stars, printed from above, add fascination to the celestial scene.
Precision gearing ensures that the Serenade Luna moon phase will need to be adjusted by one day only after a period of 122 years. Adjustment is handled via the crown and proves to be remarkably simple.
A ball bearing freewheel decouples the flow of power from the gear train to the crown, thus allowing the rotating moon phase to be adjusted in one direction while the watch continues to run.
The new Calibre 35 with integrated moon phase has a diameter of 26 mm and measures only 3.8 mm in height. Nevertheless, the manufactory’s engineers and watchmakers succeeded in implementing a 60-hour power reserve even while working in such a small volume. The oscillating system of the watch was specifically redesigned for the small format and is fitted with four regulating screws on the balance wheel. It is equipped with a silicon hairspring resistant to magnetic fields and temperature fluctuations, and oscillates at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour).
The golden rotor can be observed through the transparent case back as it makes its rounds above the movement. For the first time at Glashütte Original, both the oscillating mass and the rotor plate are made of solid gold. The precious metal has a high density and is thus perfectly suited for this purpose.
The surface of the rotor is adorned with a fine seashell-pattern guilloché, while the path of the oscillating mass presents a refined perlage finish.
Beneath the rotor, you can admire the finely finished movement with its signature three-quarter plate, the wheel bridge with stripe finish, the reduction gear with sunburst finish, along with many other typical features of Glashütte watchmaking.
At launch, the Serenade Luna is presented in four main variations, for a total of seven references.
Two stainless steel models present a white mother-of-pearl dial and are available with or without a diamond-set bezel. They are worn on a blue Louisiana alligator leather strap or on a metal bracelet with a folding clasp.
Identical straps are offered for another stainless steel model featuring a blue dial with a delicate sunray finish.
The red gold version contrasts with its own unique look: the golden green of the dial lends the sunray finish a shimmering surface. The bezel is adorned with 48 diamonds, adding a touch of sparkle. This version is paired with a colour-matched Louisiana alligator leather strap.
The leather straps come with a quick-change mechanism for convenience. The crown of the Serenade Luna has undergone a complete redesign: models with a diamond bezel feature a blossom shape adorned with a rose-cut diamond, while the version with a smooth bezel is crowned with a moonstone cabochon.
All variants showcase hour markers embellished with sparkling diamonds, and the seconds hand, with a counterweight symbolizing an infinity sign, subtly echoes a stylistic element of the Lady Serenade collection.
The new Serenade Luna models are now available at Glashütte Original boutiques and authorized partners, with prices starting from Euro 11,200. glashuette-original.com
