Arnold & Son is enriching its catalogue with the Longitude Titanium, a new sport-chic timepiece crafted from titanium.

The timepiece is housed within a 42.5 mm x 12.25 mm case, which draws direct inspiration from the sleek contours and profile of modern sailing vessels, reflecting the maritime legacy of John Arnold (1736-1799), the esteemed British master watchmaker renowned for his marine chronometers.

The base of the bezel is graduated with 60 notches, echoing the fluted ring of John Arnold’s marine chronometers. The taut lines of the case are accentuated by alternating polished and satin-finished surfaces. The crown, protected by guards, is screwed down to guarantee water-resistance to 100 metres / 330 feet.

The integrated titanium bracelet combines polished and satin-finished surfaces, harmonising with the design of the case. The watch is complemented by an interchangeable system and comes with an additional rubber strap.

Protected by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides, the dial of the Longitude Titanium features a vertical satin finish that appears to continue the bracelet’s finish.

The mirror-polished power-reserve indicator, displayed through cut-outs at 12 o'clock, is visually balanced by a small seconds sub-dial at 6 o'clock.

The hands and the hour-markers, with rhodium-plated or golden finishes, are coated with Super-LumiNova for enhanced legibility in darker environments.

The colours of the three inaugural Longitude series are inspired to Cornwall, John Arnold’s birthplace. The first edition, limited to 88 timepieces, is adorned with a sandy golden shade called ‘Kingsand’ in reference to the eponymous beach, which is one of the county’s hidden jewels. The second version sports an ocean blue, while the third and final series is a fern green.

 

The Longitude Titanium is driven by the new A&S6302 calibre, visible through the transparent sapphire crystal caseback.

Certified as a chronometer by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC), this self-winding movement operates at a frequency of 4 Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour), providing a 60-hour power reserve.

It is wound by an oscillating weight with a design influenced by sailing. Its shape is reminiscent of the prow of an 18th-century English frigate cleaving through the water, and it is carved from a single block of 22-carat gold.

 

Entirely developed, manufactured, and assembled at the Manufacture in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the A&S6302 calibre is embellished by high-end finishes, such as chamfered bridges with the house’s specialty ‘Rayons de la Gloire’ motif. 

The two non limited versions of the Arnold & Son Longitude Titanium, available in Ocean blue and Fern green, are priced at CHF 21,500 (including Swiss VAT), while the  Kingsand gold limited edition retails for CHF 22,600 (including Swiss VAT). arnoldandson.com
