Tissot unveils the PR516 Mechanical Chronograph

Tissot unveiled the PR516 Mechanical Chronograph, a sporty hand-wound chronograph featuring a fixed bezel with tachymeter and pulsometer. Price €1,975

Tissot recently unveiled the new PR516 Mechanical Chronograph, a sporty hand-wound chronograph characterised by a fixed bezel with two timing scales.

The new model comes in a 41 mm x 13.7 mm tapered stainless steel case, ensuring water resistance to 100 metres / 330 feet.

The tachymeter and pulsometer on the bezel offer the ability to measure speed and heart rate.

Protected by a box-shaped sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, the dial sports a tri-compax layout with 30-minute and 12-hour chronograph counters at 3 o'clock and 6 o'clock, respectively, and continuous seconds at 9 o'clock.

The large baton hands and hour markers, as well as the bezel inscriptions, are filled with Super-LumiNova for improved legibility in darker environments.

The three chronograph hands in orange significantly enhance the dynamic look of this model.

The transparent case back showcases the Valjoux A05.291 hand-wound mechanical movement, specifically designed for this model.

Representing the high-end of Tissot's offering, this 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) movement is derived from the Valjoux 7753 caliber undergoing specific modifications to fit the PR516. The automatic winding block has been removed and replaced with a new, specially decorated bridge that shows the inscription “TISSOT 1853”. The mainspring is fitted with a fixed bridle instead of a sliding one, allowing for a complete lock when fully wound. The newly designed barrel architecture made it possible to extend the power reserve to 68 hours. 

Another key attribute of the A05.291 is its resistance to magnetic fields, thanks to the incorporation of anti-magnetic Nivachron in the balance spring. This material not only minimises stops and residual effects caused by magnetism but also ensures consistent performance in various environments.

Paired with a stainless steel three-link bracelet equipped with an exchange system allowing for easy replacement without the need for special tools, the new Tissot PR516 Mechanical Chronograph is priced at Euro 1,975 / US$ 1,850. tissot.ch
