MeisterSinger Pangaea Day Date 365: blending historical charm with contemporary precision

MeisterSinger has been delighting enthusiasts with its distinctive single-hand watches for more than 20 years.

In the early days of watchmaking, single-hand timepieces laid the foundation.  The earliest tower, table, and wall clocks, along with the inaugural portable timepieces, exclusively featured a single hand – a fact that might escape many.

Unveiled on the occasion of the Inhorgenta exhibition opening in Munich today, the new Pangaea Day Date 365 shows how nicely the design features of historical clocks harmonize with MeisterSinger’s philosophy of time.

This is the first time that MeisterSinger has launched a watch in this unique style as a series, not as a limited edition,  as it happened for the Bell Hora Edition and the Singularis Enamel.

Housed in a 40 mm x 10.5 mm stainless steel case and topped by a domed sapphire crystal, the white dial of the Pangaea Day Date 365 features a fine serif typeface and orange accents, reminiscent of the style of early pocket watches. The date and weekday rings are fully exposed, giving the dial both structure and depth.

The central single hand, characterized by an extra-long overhang, rotates around the dial, pointing to the fine five-minute markers on the edge of the dial. Reading the time is easy and even fun once you get accustomed to the concept of a single hand sweeping over the 12 hours, divided by 144 markers.

The Pangaea Day Date 365 is driven by a specially modified self-winding movement based on a Swiss Sellita SW220, beating at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour). Showcased through the sixfold screwed glass exhibition back, the movement is carefully refined and features a rotor engraved with the brand's logo that provides the watch with a power reserve of 38 hours.

           

Water resistant to 5 bar, the new MeisterSinger Pangaea Day Date 365 (ref. PDD365901) is priced at Euro 2,590 when paired with a leather strap or Euro 2,876 in combination with a classic stainless steel Milanaise bracelet with a double folding clasp. The lug width is 20 mm. meistersinger.com
