Louis Erard introduces two new Excellence Petite Seconde Guilloché models

The Excellence collection stands as a cornerstone in Louis Erard's catalogue. The watchmaker based in Le Noirmont, in the Swiss canton of Jura, is now enriching the line with two new executions featuring guilloché-style dials with two-tone patterns. 

The new Excellence Petite Seconde Guilloché is the latest interpretation of a model that has demonstrated great versatility through numerous variations, colours, materials (gemstones, grand feu enamel) as well as capsule creations - with Seconde/Seconde/ and The Horophile.

Louis Erard has used guilloché decorations with contemporary motifs on the Excellence Guilloché Main in 2021 and the Guilloché Main II in 2022. Differently from those watches which were hand-made using a manual guilloché rose engine lathe, the new models feature stamped dials that recreate the visual effect of guilloché.

The Excellence Petite Seconde Guilloché is available in two versions, distinguished by their case size and dial colors.

Each iteration is housed in a polished stainless steel case, topped by a domed sapphire crystal featuring anti-reflective coating on both sides. This design ensures water resistance up to 50 meters / 330 feet.

The first model (ref. 34237AA42.BVA170) comes in a 42 mm x 12.25 mm case with a lug width of 22 mm and features a dial with black guilloché, anthracite ring and seconds counter. 

The second version (ref. 34248AA21.BVA150) is smaller, with a diameter of 39 mm, but slightly thicker (12.82 mm). It comes with a blue guilloché, anthracite ring, and seconds counter. The lug width is 20 mm.

The central panel of the four-part dial offers a radiant draped pattern with evolving waves, recreating the visual effect of flinqué guilloché - traditionally produced on the lathe. This is encircled by the large hour ring, covered with a finely staggered basket motif, like scales. 

The small seconds sub-dial pierces the whole, straddling the waves in the center and the corolla of the hour-markers. The seconds sub-dial, in turn, features a basket motif and a railway hoop.

The outer minute track improves accurate reading of the time. The signature rhodium-plated fir tree hands and the monogrammed crown complete the ensemble.

The transparent sapphire crystal reveals the automatic Sellita SW261-1 calibre, beating at the frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) and offering a power reserve of approximately 38 hours. The openworked oscillating weight is embellished by a black lacquered Louis Erard symbol.

Complemented by a black grained calf leather strap featuring tone-on-tone stitching and equipped with a polished stainless steel pin buckle along with ergot bars for swift strap changes, the new Louis Erard Excellence Petite Seconde Guilloché, available in either the 42 mm or the 39 mm version, is priced at CHF 2,300.
