Rado Anatom Automatic: high-teh ceramic, ergonomic design

Rado presents the new Anatom Automatic inspired to the Diastar Anatom introduced in 1983. Price €3,800

Rado is adding a new chapter to the history of the Anatom, a wristwatch that was first introduced in 1983 and whose name refers to the perfectly anatomical fit of the watch on the wrist.

The new Anatom Automatic revisits the original model using high-tech ceramic, Rado’s signature material, and rubber as well as  and the latest production technics including a stunning edge-to-edge sapphire crystal shaped to follow the anatomical contours of the new timepiece. 

Measuring 32.5 mm (W) x 46.3 mm (L) x 11.3 mm (H), the case combines a black matt high-tech ceramic bezel with a black PVD sand blasted stainless steel middle part. Black matt high-tech ceramic is also used for the crown. 

The cylindrical sapphire crystal with bevels, metallised in black and glued, is enhanced by an anti-reflective coating on the inside for optimal readability.

Characterised by a horizontal satin-brushed background, the dial exhibits a captivating gradient effect available in three main variations: green to black (ref. R10202319), blue to black (ref. R10202209), and cognac to black (ref. R10202309). 

The rhodium-coloured hands and applied indexes are filled with white Super-LumiNova. The indications are completed a date aperture at 6 o'clock.

Rado also presented a fourth version, the Anatom Automatic 40th-Anniversary Edition (ref. R10201739), distinguished by a black lacquered polished dial with 11 baguette diamonds as indexes, adding allure to the watch’s design. This reference is limited to just 40 pieces worldwide.

Horizontal satin-brushed stainless steel end pieces connect the case to a textured black rubber strap that emphasises the sporty look and feel of the timepiece. A brushed stainless steel 3-fold clasp with a black matt ceramic cover secures the strap to the wrist.

The stainless steel case back with transparent sapphire crystal reveals the extra-slim Rado R766 calibre, with a 72-hour power reserve and an antimagnetic Nivachron hairspring. This automatic movement exceeds standard test requirements from 3 to 5 positions for higher accuracy.

Water-resistant to 50 metres / 165 feet, the new Rado Anatom Automatic, with gree, blue or cogna dial, has a retail price of Euro 3,800 / US$ 3,350 while the black 40th-Anniversary Edition is priced at Euro 11,550 / US$ 10,100. rado.com
