Kollokium elevates industrial aesthetics in its Projekt 01

The new Kollokium Projekt 01, aka K,P–n°01, celebrates the raw appearance of industrial products. The first series of 99 pieces is priced at CHF2,600

Founded in 2020 by three horological veterans—Manuel Emch, Barth Nussbaumer, and Amr Sindi—Kollokium embodies a shared passion for watchmaking and a vision to undertake projects free from conceptual constraints.

Their inaugural timepiece, the Kollokium Projekt 01, also dubbed K,P–n°01, seeks to exalt the allure of the unrefined aesthetics found in industrial products.

Forged from 316L stainless steel, the case of the K,P–n°01 is not manufactured using typical milling and machining processes but die casting steel in order to achieve a more industrial and less refined appearance with a specific texture that can only be produced when injecting molten steel into a cast form.

The watch measures 40 mm at the widest point of the caseback, while the case’s cylindrical part is 38.5 mm wide. Its total height, just under 11 mm, includes the sapphire glass box, which contributes nearly half of the overall height.

The lugs are short and seamlessly integrated with the back, creating a cohesive design. Water resistance is guaranteed up to a pressure of 3 ATM (approximately 30 metres / 100 feet).

Rather than featuring a metal bezel, the sapphire box crystal is level with the dial surface. Designed to prevent visual distortion and coated on both sides with anti-reflective layers, it offers a panoramic view of the dial, a 3D reconstruction of an intentionally pixelated image rendered by Adobe Illustrator. It is possible to recognise 12 “maxi” hour markers, with batons for the cardinal hours and circles for the others.

The subtly textured black base hosts 468 individually hand-applied cylindrical hour markers in six different diameters and heights. Each of these cylinders is sandblasted, then filled with white Super-LumiNova (also by hand) that glows with an orange emission.

Powering the timepiece is the Swiss La Joux-Perret’s G101, a self-winding movement operating at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) with a power reserve of 68 hours. 

This pre-series of the Kollokium Projekt 01, limited to 99 pieces primarily allocated to family and friends of the founders, precedes the first publicly available K,P–n°01 series scheduled for release in Q1 2024. The indicative price is CHF 2,600. kollokium.com
