Cyrus is expanding its Klepcys DICE line with the new Klepcys DICE Saffron in orange and green. Price: from €40,850
Cyrus is expanding its acclaimed Klepcys DICE line with the new Klepcys DICE Saffron.
Launched in 2021 as the world's first double independent chronograph, the DICE, the acronym of Double Independent Chronograph Evolution, marked a new milestone in modern chronography making it possible for the same wristwatch to measure two-time intervals, independently or in synchrony, thanks to two distinct chronograph mechanisms.
Characterised by an openworked dial enlivened by saffron orange and bright green colours, each associated to one of the two monopusher chronographs, the Klepcys DICE Saffron is housed in a 42 mm x 16.5 mm cushion-shaped case crafted in polished/brushed Grade 5 titanium and featuring two symmetrical crowns, at 3 and 9 o'clock.
Equipped with a pusher that sets the three chronograph functions (start/stop/reset), these crowns are personalised with the brand's helix logo and distinguished by either an orange or green anodised aluminium ring to instantly recognize which of the two chronograph mechanisms they activate. The crown at 3 o’clock also winds the movement and adjusts the time.
The dial's 3D architecture showcases various movement details, including wheels, levers, and two column wheels – one in saffron orange and the other in bright green , positioned respectively at 12 and 6 o'clock.
To free up as much space as possible for the double independent chronograph complication, a concentric mechanism was developed for the motion work that carries the hours and minutes hands. This way, the mechanism is coaxial to the axes of the hands and more compact.
All chronograph indications follow the orange and green colour scheme, making the reading of the two elapsed times very intuitive. This colour scheme is used also for the two central seconds hands, each measuring a different length and, at 3 o'clock, the 30-minute chronograph counter equipped with two vertically aligned hands.
The two central hands differ in length as they track seconds on a slightly convex flange adorned with two parallel scales, graduated every 5 seconds, and highlighted in orange and green. The longer orange central seconds hand measures time on the outermost scale and resets at 12 o'clock, while the shorter green hand tracks the innermost yellow scale and resets at 6 o'clock.
The Arabic numerals displaying the time, coated with white Super-Lumi-Nova glowing blue, are applied to a transparent sapphire crystal ring with bevelled and polished edge. Interrupted at 12 and 6 o'clock, it allows a full view of the column wheels, and at 3 and 9 o'clock it makes room for the chrono counter and small seconds, both crafted in smoked sapphire crystal.
Sealed with customised screws with the Maison's three-armed helix logo, the sapphire crystal case back showcases the manufacture self-winding movement, calibre CYR1718, comprising 443 components and beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour with a 55-hour power reserve.
The movement is meticulously finished with satin-brushed/microbeaded NAC-treated bridges with raised sunray motif and hand-bevelled edges. The open-worked monobloc rotor boasts the engraving of the company's motto “The Conquest of Innovation” and is adorned with an 18K 4N gold helix.
The watch is produced in two limited editions, each consisting of 50 pieces: one with an orange Cordura fabric strap with a titanium folding clasp and the other with the new integrated bracelet.
Like the case, the integrated bracelet is made of Grade 5 titanium, with satin-brushed surfaces alternating with polished hexagonal central links. It is secured to the wrist by a triple folding clasp customised with the Maison's logo.
The new Cyrus Klepcys DICE Saffron is priced at Euro 42,500 with titanium bracelet (ref. 539.508.TTM.C) and Euro 40,850 with Cordura fabric strap (ref. 539.508.TT.C). cyrus-watches.ch
