Seiko released the new Prospex "Sumo" SPB431, a new limited-edition diver's watch available exclusively for the European market.

This new creation is inspired by Silfra, the famous fissure located in Thingvellir National Park, Iceland, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Silfra Fissure is the only place in the world where divers can touch two different continents at the same time, on one side Eurasia, on the other America.

The stainless steel case of reference SPB431 has a diameter of 45 mm with a thickness of 12.9 mm and is from the “Sumo" line, known among brand enthusiasts for its “tonneau” shape, here reinterpreted in a contemporary version with a modern and compact silhouette, and the screw-down cron ergonomically positioned at 4 o'clock. Water resistance is guaranteed up to a pressure of 20 bar (approximately 200 metres / 660 feet).

Protected by a box-shaped sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on the inner side, the dial recalls the dark blue color of the fissure and shows a lighter shade at the centre, which, through this contrasting chromatic effect, reproduces the cracks of the oceanic straits. 

The large hands and indexes are filled with Lumibrite for optimal readability even in darker environments. The date window located at 3 o’clock completes the dial indications.

The unidirectional rotating bezel is made of two-tone blue and dark green aluminum to better harmonise with the dial.

Hidden behind the solid caseback, the movement of choice is the reliable Caliber 6R35 that beats at the frequency of 3 Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour) with a power reserve of 70 hours.

The timepiece is completed by the stainless steel bracelet, closed by a triple folding clasp with safety button and push button release with extender for a wetsuit.

The watch is delivered with an additional interchangeable blue silicone strap.
