Review: MeisterSinger Pangaea, 2023 Edition

Our hands-on review of the MeisterSinger Pangaea, 2023 Edition – the most elegant single-hand watch of the German watchmaker. Price from €2,190

With its timeless design and slender profile, the Pangaea is the most elegant model in the production of Meistersinger, a recognized leader in crafting single-handed watches.

We recently had the opportunity to wear and test the revamped Pangaea 2023 for a few days, and we are now delighted to share our pictures and impressions.

The watch is housed in a 40 mm diameter round case, standing at 10.5 mm in height, inclusive of the domed sapphire crystal. Crafted from stainless steel, its polished finish enhances the refinement of this timepiece, ensuring water resistance up to 5 bar (approximately 50 meters / 165 feet).

The lugs are slightly curved for excellent comfort on the wrist. The large crown is adorned with an embossed MeisterSinger logo - the musical notation for a pause.

The watch's versatility is further underscored by the ease of changing straps and bracelets, thanks to convenient bars featuring a spur system for tool-free adjustments. In our review, we alternated between a cognac-toned cowhide leather strap with a stainless steel pin buckle and a classic stainless steel Milanaise bracelet with a double folding clasp. The lug width is 20 mm.

A slim bezel provides ample space for the white or sunburst blue dial. An additional dial variation in the distinctive ivory hue is also available.

The white dial exudes a glossy finish adorned with gold double-digit numerals, contrasting blue and black indices, and a black hand. Conversely, the blue dial features a sunburst finish with white indices, numerals, and hands, ensuring clarity and visibility.

To indicate the time of the day, the needle-sharp central hand sweeps over the 12 hours divided by 144 markers, with each line in the outer circle representing precisely 5 minutes. The hand is therefore both an hour hand and a minute hand. 

The line hierarchy typical of MeisterSinger single-hand watches additionally divides the time display into half and quarter hours, thus making it easier to read off the time accurately.

The 6-screwed glass exhibition back showcases the self-winding Sellita SW300 calibre with its rotor engraved with the logo of the brand. 

Specially modified for MeisterSinger’s single-hand watches and and equipped with an Incabloc antishock system, this sturdy and reliable movement operates at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) with a power reserve of 42 hours.

Designed with great attention to details and accurate finishes, the new MeisterSinger Pangaea - either with blue (ref. PM9908), ivory (ref. PM9903) or white (ref. PM9901G) dial - distinguishes itself with a stylish look and a unique, relaxed method of indicating the time.
