Review: MeisterSinger Perigraph special models, 38 mm and 43 mm

MeisterSinger is the world’s leading brand in the production of single hand watches. The time is indicated by just one needle-sharp hand that sweeps over the 12 hours divided by 144 markers, each representing 5 minutes.

The Perigraph, one of the most popular models of the German watchmaker, maintains this peculiarity while adding  an original date display based on a 360° exposed disk, enriching the dial and adding depth.

Recently, we had the opportunity to wear and test two special editions of the Perigraph characterised by an eye-catching look, featuring a sunburst blue dial with yellow accents. We are now delighted to share our photographs and impressions with you.

The new striking colour combination is presented in two sizes: the original 43 mm x 11.5 mm (ref. S-AM1018) and a new 38 mm x 10.5 mm version (ref. S-BM1118), suitable for those who prefer a smaller size. Each edition is limited to 100 pieces.

Crafted from stainless steel with polished surfaces, both cases are equipped with a domed sapphire crystal and a large crown adorned with an embossed MeisterSinger logo, the musical notation for a pause. The watches are waterproof up to 5 bar (50 metres / 165 feet).

Thanks to curved lugs, even the larger 43 mm version sits comfortably on the wrist. The 38 mm model will be perfect for slender wrists, Ladies and anyone who prefers not to wear large timepieces. The two Perigraph special models come with a super-soft calfskin strap in yellow, perfectly matching the dial accents, and are secured to the wrist with a steel pin buckle. You also have the option to choose from other leather straps or a Milanese mesh bracelet. The lug width is 20 mm for the 43 mm version and 18 mm for the 38 mm version.

The dial boasts a beautiful medium blue with sunburst finish against which the white typography and bright yellow accents stand out.

The date is indicated by means of a concentric ring that openly rotates in the centre of the dial. Each day at midnight, it advances by one step, displaying the current date just below 12 o'clock, as highlighted by the small yellow arrow just above the MeisterSinger logo.

The movements of choice are displayed through the 6-screwed glass exhibition back. To ensure optimal proportions, the Perigraph 38 mm houses a Swiss Sellita SW300 automatic movement which is 1 mm thinner than the SW200 used for the 43 mm version. 

Both movements operate at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour), with a power reserve of 42 hours for the SW300 and 38 hours for the SW200. Meticulously refined, they feature rotors engraved with the logo of the brand.

The “One of 100” imprint on the glass exhibition back highlights the exclusivity of these two watches. And, just like most MeisterSinger models, these special Perigraph editions can also be engraved.

The new MeisterSinger Perigraph Special models, either with a 38 mm or a 43 mm case, have a suggested retail price of Euro 2,190.
