TAG Heuer introduced the Monaco Chronograph Night Driver, a Limited Edition that features a new technical innovation for the brand: a fully luminescent dial for even enhanced legibility.

The key idea behind this model was to reproduce the sensations of a car dashboard while driving at night.

Inspired by the midnight blue, charcoal grey, and matte black dials of some vintage Monaco models, this newest edition harnesses the capabilities of Super-LumiNova to expand its luminosity across a broader surface area, allowing the dial to remain prominently visible in the dark for 3 hours after being exposed to  to artificial or natural light.

At night, or in low light environments, the deep grey “circle” at the center of the dial provides strong contrast with the black gold-plated hour and minute hands filled with blue Super-LumiNova and the grey lacquered central hand, also treated with the luminescent material.

The exterior of the dial is transformed from a cool, light grey to a vivid glowing blue, just like the chronograph counters at 3 and 6 o’clock.

Bright dots mark the hours. Even the hash-marks that indicate the minutes / seconds glow brightly for improved readability.

The chronograph counters are transformed into this same glowing blue, providing vivid contrast with the black markings for minutes and hours, as well as the black hands indicating chronograph minutes and hours.

The case is built of Grade 5 titanium, coated in black DLC (diamond-like carbon) material with a combination of fine-brushed and polished finishes. Water resistant to 100 metres / 330 feet, it measure 39 mm in diameter with a thickness of 14.7 mm.

The in-house manufacture Calibre Heuer 02 is visible through the sapphire case back and features a customized oscillating mass, column wheel, and engravings with blue details. 

Beating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), it guarantees a remarkable power reserve of 80 hours.

The Monaco Chronograph Night Driver Limited Edition incorporates a calfskin strap, with alternating large and small perforations and bright white stitching, and is secured to the wrist by a black DLC Grade 5 titanium folding clasp with double safety push-buttons.
