A. Lange & Söhne is introducing today the Lange 1 Perpetual Calendar in platinum ref. 345.036E. 

Characterized by an elegant black dial, this version follows the two versions - in white gold with a solid pink-gold dial and in pink gold with a grey solid-silver dial - that were launched in 2021 (you can read about them here).

Framed by a 950-platinum case measuring 41.9 mm x 12.1 mm, the dark dial offers an ideal background for highlighting the moon-phase display with its integrated day/night indicator.

The month is indicated by means of a ring at the periphery of the dial that advances at the end of each month. 

All calendar indications, including the outsize date, the day of the week and the leap year, switch instantaneously producing an unambiguous readings at any given time. They can be advanced collectively or separately using correctors. 

Once set correctly, the mechanism is programmed to accurately display the turn of the month until 2100.

Constructed across two levels, the moon-phase display is encircled by the running seconds and consists of a solid-gold disc with graduated blue hues that completes one full revolution about its own axis every 24 hours. 

Against this background, the white gold disc performs its synodic orbit in 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes, and three seconds. Assuming that the watch runs continuously, it would take 122.6 years before a correction of one day is needed. 

Based on the calibre L021.1 of the Lange 1 Daymatic, the self-winding movement L021.3 and its exceptional finishes can be admired through the sapphire-crystal caseback: plates and bridges made of untreated German silver and decorated with Glashütte ribbing, five gold chatons secured with thermally blued steel screws, a hand-engraved balance cock, and a unidirectional winding rotor in 21-carat gold with a centrifugal mass in 950 platinum.

Operating at a frequency of 3 Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour), the movement guarantees a power reserve of 50 hours.
