Tudor - Pelagos FXD “Alinghi Red Bull Racing Edition” models

Tudor presented the new Pelagos FXD Alinghi models, a time-only and a chronograph. Prices of the Pelagos FXD Alinghi Red Bull Racing start from €3,690

To celebrate its partnership with Alinghi Red Bull Racing, Tudor unveiled two new Pelagos FXD models: a time-only watch and a chronograph, both inspired by yacht racing.

Housed in cases made from carbon composite, the Pelagos FXD “Alinghi Red Bull Racing Edition” models are equipped with a 120-notch bi-directional rotatable bezels in titanium with a black matte-finished carbon composite insert and graduation in Super-LumiNova luminous material from 60 to 0, so as to allow for easy tracking of countdowns, a key moment before the start of a regatta. 

Titanium is also used for the screwed-down crown and, for the chronograph, for the push buttons at 2 o'clock and 4 o’clock.

Water-resistant to 200 metres / 660 feet, the cases of the new Pelagos FXD are characterized by fixed strap bars, a solution introduced in 2021 (you can read about it here) and developed in conjunction with the French Navy's combat swimmers.

The one-piece fabric strap is made up of a 22 mm “Team Blue” jacquard-woven ribbon with red accents and a titanium “D” buckle with a self-gripping fastening system.

The dials are finished in Alinghi Red Bull Racing Team Blue with a red-tipped second hand, the Chronograph model features red accents around the counters to hint at the red stripes on the hull of the AC75 (America’s Cup 75) hydrofoil racing yacht. 

On the 45° angled rehaut, between 10 and 2, a subtle “Alinghi Red Bull Racing” mention overarches the dial’s layout. The applied square hour-markers and “Snowflake” hands, designed to offer larger luminous surfaces and thus improve legibility, are fashioned from luminescent ceramic composite for optimal legibility in challenging conditions.

The time-only model (ref. 25707KN) measures 42 mm in diameter and is powered by the proprietary Calibre MT5602, a 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) self-winding mechanical movement with bidirectional rotor system with an autonomy of 70 hours. 

For the 43 mm chronograph model (ref. 25807KN), Tudor chose the self-winding Chronograph Calibre MT5813 featuring a column wheel mechanism and vertical clutch. Derived from the Manufacture Calibre Breitling 01 chronograph, with a high-precision regulating organ developed by Tudor, this movement operates at a frequency of 4 Hz with a 70-hour power reserve.

The architecture of the two movements has been designed to ensure robustness and precision with the variable inertia balance wheel maintained by a sturdy traversing bridge with two-point anchoring. 

Both are certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) and able to function beyond the specification of the standard, that is within a tolerance range of 6 seconds (-2/+4) per day, always tested on every single fully assembled watch. 

The solid case back is made of 316L stainless steel and engraved with the Alinghi Red Bull Racing logo.
