Hands-on review of the Cyrus Klepcys GMT Palm Green with dual-time function. Live pics, full specs. Klepcys GMT Palm Green 539.507.TTM.C Price €29,300
Last March, on the occasion of the Watches & Wonders 2023 exhibition in Geneva, Swiss manufacture Cyrus presented two new versions of its Klepcys GMT model characterised by colourful blue or green dials and a new metal bracelet that the brand now offers as an alternative to their typical Cordura fabric strap.
After our introductory article, we had the possibility to to wear and test the new Cyrus Klepcys GMT Palm Green for a few days and we are now delighted to share our live pictures and impressions.
This exclusive model comes in a distinctive cushion shaped case crafted from Grade 5 titanium, an alloy of titanium, aluminium and vanadium which is lighter and more hard-wearing than steel. Its dynamic lines are highlighted by the alternation of satin brushed and polished surfaces.
Thanks to a slightly curved profile and the lightness of titanium, the watch sits comfortably on the wrist.
The comfort is enhanced by the new integrated bracelet, a first for Cyrus, which is also made of Grade 5 titanium with a brushed finish and polished hexagonal central links. A triple folding clasp customised with the Maison's logo secures the watch to the wrist.
Measuring 42 mm in diameter and 13.9 mm in height, the Klepcys GMT Palm Green is water resistant up to a pressure of 10 bar (approximately 100 metres / 330 feet), a performance that, combined with the new bracelet and the practical GMT function, makes this wristwatch very versatile.
A GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) function - also referred to as "second time zone" or "dual time" function - is useful to keep track of the current time in other countries by displaying two time zones at once: local time and home time.
The Klepcys GMT Palm Green offers a clever and easy to use implementation of this feature thanks to its in-house developed movement whose openworked upper bridge appears on the dial side crafted in the shape of a palm tree and presented in a captivating green hue. Through it, it is possible to see some of the wheels and gears that animate the mechanism.
The Palm Green colour is obtained using ALD (Atomic Layer Deposition), a technique that generates a perfectly uniform and homogeneous coating while also providing superior protection against corrosion. Its surface is enhanced by cerclage decorative motifs with microbillé edging, alternating with opaque laser-finished matt flat rays.
On the first level of the multi-layered dial, the openworked rhodium-plated hour and minute hands indicate the local time on a transparent antireflective sapphire disc with large Arabic numerals.
The home time is indicated by a white hand with triangular luminescent tip that moves along a 24-hour retrograde display in matt grey lacquer.
This is interrupted at 6 o'clock by the small seconds counter decorated with small raised triangles and treated with anthracite grey. The small second hand has the shape of a blue or green three-armed helix, the symbol of the brand.
When the white hand with the triangular tip reaches the 24 at 5 o'clock, it makes a jump to the 24 at 7 o'clock so that it never hides the small seconds sub-dial.
All hands, indices and numerals are treated with white Super-LumiNova emitting a long-lasting blue glow for improved legibility in dark conditions.
Setting the second time zone is intuitive and easy thanks to the two crowns featuring a caoutchouc rubber ring for improved grip. The crown at 3 o'clock winds the movement in position 0 and adjust the hour and minute hands of local time when pulled out to position 1. When you perform this operation, the white retrograde hand indicating the home time turns together with the local time hands.
The crown at 9 o'clock is used to set the local time. By pressing the pusher on the crown, the local time hand moves forward by one hour jump to set the desired time, for example when you arrive to a new destination. During the adjustment, the indications of the minutes and the home time remain unchanged.
The transparent sapphire crystal case back reveals the manufacture automatic movement, Calibre CYR708, and its anthracite grey NAC bridges reprising the palm tree motif and decorated with a satin and microbillé finish.
The single-block oscillating mass, openworked with a sunray pattern, is engraved with the motto “The Conquest of Innovation” and ALD-coated to match the dial colour. The case back is sealed with customised screws bearing the Maison's three-armed helix symbol.
Beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, this high precision movement offers 55 hours of power reserve.
The new Cyrus Klepcys GMT Palm Green is available in two limited editions of 38 pieces each: one with a grey Cordura fabric strap (ref. 539.507.TT.C) and the other with a Grade 5 titanium bracelet (ref. 539.507.TTM.C). Additionally, another 76 units (38 with strap and 38 with bracelet) are presented with an Ocean Blue dial (ref. 539.507.TT.B and 539.507.TTM.B) at the same prices.

Not a fan of the two crowns but I very much like the dial and how they have integrated the GMT function
