Raymond Weil presented the Freelancer Pilot Flyback Chronograph 7783, a vintage-inspired pilot’s watch that is also the first flyback chronograph in the catalogue of the Geneva-based brand.

Housed in a 42 mm x 13.8 mm round case in stainless steel with a grey PVD coating that enhances its technical look, the watch is equipped with an onion-shaped screwed-down crown and a brown leather strap with rivets that  are perfectly in line with the aviation theme. Water resistance is ensured up to a pressure of 10 bar (100 metres / 330 feet)

A sapphire crystal with antiglare treatment on both sides protects the deep green dial with applied Arabic numerals and baton style hour and minute hands. Arrow-shaped indexes at 3 and 9 o’clock pay tribute to pilots’ watches of the past, while the textured hour markers evoke the appearance of tarmac road surfacing material. Filled with Super-LumiNova, the hands and hour markers ensure optimal legibility even in low-light conditions.

The central chronograph seconds hand stands out prominently on the dial with its vibrant yellow colour, ensuring excellent visibility and clear distinction. The small hand of the 30-minute chronograph register and the "FLYBACK" text located at 6 o'clock are also presented in the same striking yellow hue. The dial features a well-balanced and symmetrical design, incorporating a 2-counter layout, while a white track encircling the circumference of the dial, contributes to enhanced legibility and precise timekeeping.

The automatic movement inside the timepiece is the RW5530, a flyback chronograph movement that allows a simultaneous reset and restart of the chronograph with a single pusher and has a 56-hour power reserve. 

This fully integrated movement features a column wheel and horizontal coupling. The  column wheel controls the start, stop and reset functions and contributes to more accurate and precise functionality – noticeable through the smooth impulse when manipulating the pushers.

The horizontal coupling offers a mesmerizing view of the chronograph's engagement and disengagement, a delight for mechanical purists.

The movement is adorned with perlage and Côtes de Genève motif. The W-shaped oscillating weight and the blued column wheel are visible through the sapphire case back, which is etched with a propeller motif.
