The TV-shaped case that Mido used for some of its models introduced in 1973, 1980 and 2000 makes a comeback in the collection of the Swiss brand with the new Multifort TV Big Date.

Mido TV-shaped models

Recalling the design of the first television devices, an almost square rectangle with rounded corners, the new Mido Multifort TV Big Date comes in a 40 mm x 39.2 mm satin-finished and polished stainless steel case featuring a flat, square satin-finished bezel. Equipped with a guard-protected and screw-down crown, the watch is water-resistant up to a pressure of 10 bar (100 metres / 330 feet).

Protected by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides, the dial is available in three colour variations - blue, green or gray - that turn gradually to black at the edges. 

The Big Date appears at 12 o'clock on the two-level dial, which features a horizontal brushed finish from 3 o'clock to 9 o'clock that subtly reflects the light.

Legibility is excellent. The hands and the hour markers - trapezoidal at each quarter and round the other - are treated with white Super-LumiNova that emits blue-green luminescence in the dark. Making its debut in the Multifort collection, the signature big date aperture appears at 12 o'clock.

Visible through the transparent case back, the self-winding Calibre 80 (ETA C07.651 base) is equipped with a high-tech balance spring in Nivachron, which offers outstanding resistance to shocks and magnetic fields, and an oscillating weight decorated with Geneva stripes and Mido logo.

Beating at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour, this movement offers a remarkable power reserve of up to 80 hours.

Secured to the wrist by a folding clasp, the integrated stainless steel bracelet is satin-brushed with polished centre links to add elegance to the ensemble. For an even sportier look, it is possible to match the watch to rubber straps in various colours, including blue and orange. Bracelet and straps are equipped with bars with a spur system for quick changes without needing any tools. The lugs width is 22 mm.
