Longines - Spirit Zulu Time 39 mm

Longines is expanding its Spirit Zulu Time line with four new 39mm models including a bi-colour version. Price € 4,700.

Longines is expanding its Spirit Zulu Time line with new 39 mm models that add to the 42 mm versions launched last year.

Like the original 2022 model, the new Longines Spirit Zulu Time 39 mm reflects the brand’s century-old expertise in multiple time zones timepieces. Its origins and its name come from the first Longines dual-time zone wristwatch manufactured in 1925, which featured the Zulu flag on its dial – Zulu referring to the letter "Z" which designates universal time for aviators and members of the armed forces. During its long history, Longines designed many GMT models, most of them aimed at the aeronautics sector.

The four new references include a completely new bi-colour version in stainless steel with 18K yellow gold bi-directional rotating bezel and screw-in crown. 

The appeal of this version is further enhanced by a chocolate brown ceramic insert with a Super-LumiNova triangle and an engraved 24-hour scale with lacquered numbers.

Protected by a sapphire domed glass with multi-layered anti-reflective coating on both sides, the anthracite sandblasted dial features gilt hands and applied Arabic numerals, all generously coated with Super-LumiNova old radium, which emphasises the vintage look. The beige numerals used for the date display at 6 o’clock harmonise with the ensemble.

Behind the engraved caseback secured with six screws, the new in-house Calibre L844.4 (A31.L411) makes it possible to adjust the hour hand independently of the GMT indicator. The additional time zones are read using the 24-hour black and gilt GMT hand and the bidirectional rotating bezel, also graduated over 24 hours. 

This self-winding movement, equipped with a silicon balance-spring, operates at a frequency of 25,200 vibrations per hour and has a power reserve of 72 hours. It is chronometer-certified by the COSC (the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute), as indicated by the five stars stamped on the dial. Throughout Longines' history, these stars signify a guarantee of the highest-quality movement."

The new bi-colour Longines Spirit Zulu Time ref. L3.802.5.53 is presented on an interchangeable stainless steel bracelet, an interchangeable NATO strap in a brown colour unique to this watch, or on an interchangeable brown leather strap with contrasting cream stitching, whose fine adjustment system, combined to the discreet dimensions of the case - 21 mm lug to lug and 13.50 mm of thickness - contributes to  excellent wearer comfort. It retails at Euro 4,700 with steel bracelet or Euro 4,350 with NATO or leather strap.

The other three new Spirit Zulu Time references are presented in stainless steel with a matt black, sandblasted anthracite, or sunray blue dial and bezels with a black (ref.L3.802.4.53), green (ref. L3.802.4.63) or blue (ref. L3.802.4.93) ceramic insert. Prices are Euro 3,450 when matched to a stainless steel bracelet or Euro 3,300 in combination with a leather strap.
