IWC - Pilot’s Watch Mark XX, new models

IWC is launching two new versions of the Pilot’s Watch Mark XX, a modern evolution of the legendary Mark 11 developed in 1948 for the navigators and pilots of the British Royal Air Force.

The latest additions to the series come in 40 mm x 10.8 mm stainless steel cases with new silver-plated dials that complement the colour line-up already including blue, green and black dials.

One is fitted with a black calfskin strap (ref. IW328207), and the other features a high-grade 5-link stainless steel bracelet (ref. IW328208). In both cases, thanks to its revised case profile and slimmer and more curved lugs, the watch offers an optimal fit on most wrists. 

IWC’s EasX-CHANGE quick-change system allows the wearer to change the strap or bracelet easily and without needing any additional tool. The selection of wristbands ranges from calfskin straps and stainless steel bracelets to durable, flexible and water-proof rubber straps in various colours. 

The graphics for the large numerals and indices, combined to the luminescent elements on the dial and the black hands, ensure excellent readability in any situation. An unmissable detail is the presence of the signature triangular index at 12 o'clock, a defining feature of IWC's Pilot's watches.

The Pilot’s Watch Mark XX is powered by the IWC-manufactured 32111 calibre,  4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) automatic movement with a bidirectional pawl winding system that builds up a power reserve of 120 hours. A soft-iron inner case protects the movement from the effects of magnetic fields. The front glass is specially secured to remain in place even in the event of a sudden pressure drop in the cockpit.

 

Engraved into the reverse side of the watch is a depiction of a 1930s Junkers Ju 52, the German trimotor transport aircraft whose cockpit instruments inspired IWC designers when they created the Mark 11.
