Omega is expanding the Worldtimer collection to include three new models: a titanium edition with a dial made entirely by laser ablation and two striking new options in stainless steel that add to the editions in platinum and steel introduced in 2017 and 2019, respectively.
All the new Seamaster Aqua Terra Worldtimer 2023 models feature scratch-resistant ceramic bezels that frame the eye-catching Worldtimer displays reproducing the Earth, as viewed from above the North Pole, by laser-ablating continents and colours on a grade 5 titanium surface.
Circling the slightly domed topographic map is a 24-hour indication under hesalite glass, divided into night and day sections.
Omega’s home city of Bienne, Switzerland is among the many global destinations circling around each dial and its outer ring. London stands out in red as it highlights Greenwich Mean Time, now more formally known as Universal Time Coordinated (UTC).
For the Worldtimer in titanium, a lightweight and corrosion resistant material, the entire black and grey dial, including its colours, has been produced using lasers. There are no transferred elements, except for the word 'London' in red varnish that has been applied by hand.
Framed by a brushed black ceramic bezel, the matte dial is completed by blackened hands and indexes, filled with white Super-LumiNova which emits a blue glow in the dark.
The watch is equipped with an integrated strap in black structured rubber with grey stitching, additional decorative link in brushed grade 2 titanium, and grade 2 titanium clasp.
The two stainless steel models feature a sun-brushed PVD dial in green, encircled by a polished-brushed green ceramic bezel. Hands and indexes in 18K Moonshine gold add shine to the dial.
One model comes with a matching stainless steel bracelet and butterfly clasp, the other one with an integrated green rubber strap with grey stitching, additional decorative link in polished steel, and polished-brushed fold over clasp.
Offering water resistance up to a pressure of 15 bar (150 metres / 500 feet), the cases of the Seamaster Aqua Terra Worldtimer 2023 models measure 43 mm x 14.1 mm with a lugs width of 21 mm.
Visible through the transparent sapphire crystal case back, the self-winding Master Chronometer Calibre 8938 with Co-Axial escapement features a free sprung-balance with silicon balance spring and offers a power reserve of 60 hours.
Movement and watch are tested according to the Master Chronometer certification process approved by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS) whose testing criteria include: the average daily precision of the whole watch, precision of the movement when it is not yet cased (like COSC), precision when the movement is fully wound or near to the end of the power reserve, water resistance, and anti-magnetic resistance of both the movement alone and the entire watch to magnetic fields reaching 15,000 gauss.
