Cyrus presented the new Klepcys GMT Ocean Blue and Klepcys GMT Palm Green, two limited editions with a dual time function. Prices from €27,600
Swiss manufacture Cyrus is expanding its Klepcys collection with two new limited editions of its Klepcys GMT model, the Klepcys GMT Ocean Blue and Klepcys GMT Palm Green.
In addition to the typical Cordura strap, the new variations can now be matched to a brand new bracelet which adds versatility to this sporty timepiece enhanced by a practical GMT function. For each version, Cyrus will produce 76 pieces, with 38 pieces on a strap and 38 with a metal bracelet.
The new Klepcys GMT Ocean Blue and Palm Green follow the first version launched in 2020 (you can read our review here) introducing a more daring look in which colour takes centre stage.
Crafted in the shape of a palm tree and presented in blue or green, the openworked upper bridge of the movement provides a glimpse of the wheels and gears that animate the mechanism. This key element is coated in Ocean Blue or Palm Green using ALD (Atomic Layer Deposition), a technique that generates a perfectly uniform and homogeneous coating while also providing superior protection against corrosion. Its surface is enhanced by cerclage decorative motifs with microbillé edging, alternating with opaque laser-finished matt flat rays.
The watch offers a dual time function - also referred to as "second time zone" or GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) function - which is useful to keep track of the current time in other countries by displaying two time zones at once: local time and home time.
On the first level of the multi-layered dial, the openworked rhodium-plated hour and minute hands indicate the local time on a transparent antireflective sapphire disc with large Arabic numerals.
The home time is indicated by a white hand with triangular luminescent tip that moves along a 24-hour retrograde display in matt grey lacquer. This is interrupted at 6 o'clock by the small seconds counter decorated with small raised triangles and treated with anthracite grey. The small second hand has the shape of a blue or green three-armed helix, the symbol of the brand. When the white hand with the triangular tip reaches the 24 at 5 o'clock, it makes a jump to the 24 at 7 o'clock so that it never hides the small seconds sub-dial.
All hands, indices and numerals are treated with white Super-LumiNova emitting a long-lasting blue glow for improved legibility in dark conditions.
Setting the second time zone is intuitive and easy thanks to the two crowns featuring a caoutchouc rubber ring for improved grip. The crown at 3 o'clock winds the movement in position 0 and adjust the hour and minute hands of local time when pulled out to position 1. When you perform this operation, the white retrograde hand indicating the home time turns together with the local time hands.
The crown at 9 o'clock is used to set the local time. By pressing the pusher on the crown, the local time hand moves forward by one hour jump to set the desired time, for example when you arrive to a new destination. During the adjustment, the indications of the minutes and the home time remain unchanged.
The Klepcys GMT is housed in 42 mm x 13.9 mm cushion-shaped case crafted from Grade 5 titanium with a polished/satin finish and water resistant up to a pressure of 10 bar (corresponding to a depth of 100 metres / 330 feet). Thanks to short and slightly curved lugs, the watch sits comfortably on the wrist.
The transparent sapphire crystal case back reveals the manufacture automatic movement, Calibre CYR708, and its anthracite grey NAC bridges with slightly curved sunrays in a satin and microbillé finish.
The single-block oscillating mass, openworked with a sunray pattern, is engraved with the motto “The Conquest of Innovation” and ALD-coated in Ocean Blue or Palm Green to match the dial colours. The case back is sealed with customised screws bearing the Maison's three-armed helix symbol, a further confirmation of the level of attention that the brand pays to even the smaller details.
Beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, this high precision movement offers 55 hours of power reserve.
The new Klepcys GMT Ocean Blue (ref. 539.507.TT.B and 539.507.TTM.B) and Klepcys GMT Palm Green (ref. 539.507.TT.C and 539.507.TTM.C) are available with a grey Cordura strap with stitching matching the dial colours and a customised folding clasp or with the new metal bracelet, a first for Cyrus.
Soft and comfortable on the wrist, perfectly integrated to the case, it is crafted from brushed Grade 5 titanium with polished hexagonal central links.
The new Cyrus Klepcys GMT Ocean Blue and Klepcys GMT Palm Green have suggested retail prices of Euro 27,600 with Cordura strap or Euro 29,300 with metal bracelet. cyrus-watches.ch
