Jaeger-LeCoultre presented new steel bracelets for Master Control Calendar Q4148120 and Master Control Chronograph Calendar Q413812J models. Prices
Celebrating 30 years this year, the Master Control line was launched by Jaeger-LeCoultre in 1992 as a demonstration of the Maison’s commitment to the very highest levels of watchmaking excellence. The Master Control also marked the beginning of the 1000 Hours Control system of internal quality standards, a system subsequently incorporated throughout the full range of watches.
Two new Master Control models with interchangeable bracelets in stainless steel, fully compatible with other strap systems of the brand, are now available: the Master Control Calendar ref. Q4148120 and the Master Control Chronograph Calendar ref. Q413812J.
Both timepieces feature silver sunray-brushed dials with a tone-on-tone aesthetic and the typical design codes of the Master Control such as Dauphine hands and Arabic numerals intercut with dart hour markers.
The Master Control Calendar is characterised by a jumping date hand endowed with a red-lacquered indicator tip in the shape of the Jaeger-LeCoultre logo, allowing the date to be read easily and intuitively. The days and the month are displayed in the upper part of the dial, and the moon-phase set within the small seconds subdial in the lower part.
The 40 mm x 10.95 mm stainless steel case houses the manufacture Calibre 866 showcasing it through the sapphire crystal caseback. Beating at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour), this innovative self-winding movement features new escapement and pallets made of silicon to minimise friction and thus consume less energy. In order to increase the power reserve to 70 hours, the barrel was redesigned to accommodate a stronger and longer mainspring.
The Master Control Chronograph Calendar puts together two of the most appreciated complications in watchmaking, a column-wheel chronograph and a triple calendar display with moon phases, a combination that became available for the first time in the Master Control collection in 2020 (you can read our hands-on review of this model here).
The 40 mm x 12.05 mm stainless steel case alternating satin-brushed and brilliantly polished surfaces frames a dial where the numerous indications are efficiently arranged: the 30-minute chronograph counter at 3 o’clock is visually balanced by the running seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock, while the day and month windows in the top part of dial are balanced by the moon-phase and date indicator at 6 o’clock. A pulsometric scale is marked around the dial flange. The chronograph hands are recognisable at a glance for their blue colour.
The transparent sapphire crystal case back reveals the in-house developed and manufactured Calibre 759. Comprised of 356 parts, this 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) self-winding movement features a column-wheel chronograph with a vertical clutch and offers a power reserve of 65 hours.
Water resistant to a pressure of up to 5 bar (50 metres / 165 feet), the new Master Control models with steel bracelet also come with a light-brown strap in Novonappa calf leather. These leather straps are equipped with the same quick-change system.
The suggested retail prices of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Calendar ref. Q4148120 and Master Control Chronograph Calendar ref.
