Mido continues to celebrate its special link with architecture with the presentation of the third of five models from its flagship collections that pay homage to iconic buildings from various locations.

The Swiss brand has been drawing creative inspiration from architecture since 2002, with the introduction of the All Dial, its first collection whose design was freely inspired by a monument, the Colosseum in Rome.

After the 20th Anniversary editions of the All Dial and the Baroncelli, it is time to discover the Ocean Star Inspired by Architecture.

For this special version of the Ocean Star, the inspiration comes from the Europa Point Lighthouse, a landmark on the Mediterranean Sea located in the Strait of Gibraltar. 

Dressed in blue with hints of red – on its ‘velvet’ finish dial, fabric strap with red stitching and on the varnished tip of the seconds hand, in a clear reference to the lighthouse’s architecture – this watch will be produced in a limited series of 1,841 timepieces, a reference to the the year the monument was built.

The 42.5 mm stainless steel case with satin-brushed and polished finishes is equipped with a unidirectional rotating bezel with blue aluminium ring and silver-coloured markings.

Protected by a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective treatment on both sides, the blue dial is strongly characterised by the shape of the index at 12 o’clock, adorned with a touch of red and recalling the silhouette of the lighthouse. 

Hands, hour markers and the bezel's dot at 12 o’clock are filled with white Super-LumiNova. Day and date can be read off in an aperture at 3 o'clock

The Mido Caliber 80 automatic movement (ETA C07.621 base) beats at the frequency of 3 Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour) and offers a remarkable autonomy of 80 hours, more than three full days. 

The caseback is decorated with the Europa Point lighthouse and the individual number of the timepiece (Limited edition xxxx/1841).

 

Screwed case back and crown contribute to guarantee water-resistance up to a pressure of 20 bar (200 metres / 660 feet).
