Introduced in 2017 in a white gold case with a cream-lacquered dial (you can read about it here), the perpetual calendar Reference 5320 is reinterpreted by Patek Philippe in a new white gold version fitted with a gilded opaline rose gold dial.

Strongly characterised by its three-tiered lugs inspired to a model from 1945, the case of the new Perpetual Calendar 5320G-011 has a diameter of 40 mm and is 11.13 mm thick. Water-resistant to 30 metres / 100 feet, it features an interchangeable full back and sapphire-crystal case back.

Protected by a box-type sapphire-crystal glass that overlaps the bezel, the warm-toned dial has the typical layout that Patek Philippe has been using since 1941 for its perpetual calendars, i.e. timepieces that automatically indicate months with 28, 30, and 31 days and every four years also recognize the 29th of February as a leap day. 

Legibility is excellent thanks to the large applied Arabic numerals and the sharp-tipped hands, all coated with  luminous material glowing in green in low light.

The twin in-line day/month aperture positioned at 12 o’clock visually balances the date indicated by a hand surrounding a moon-phase aperture at 6 o’clock. These are complemented by two round apertures: one for the day/night indication between 7 and 8 o’clock; and the other for the leap-year cycle between 4 and 5 o’clock. The moon phases require a one-day correction only once every 122 years.

The 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) Calibre 324 S Q movement is beautifully finished with bridges with chamfered and polished edges, Geneva striping and gold-filled engravings. 

The 21K solid-gold rotor suspended between ball bearings winds and store enough energy to guarantee a power reserve of 35 (min) to 45 (max) hours.
