At Watches and Wonders 2022, Baume & Mercier presented new Riviera models in 42, 36 and 33 mm including the Riviera Baumatic M0A10702. Prices.
First released in 1973 and reinterpreted in 2021 (you can read about the product launch here), the Riviera collection by Baume et Mercier keeps expanding with several new models of casual elegance for both Ladies and Gentlemen.
All recognizable by their iconic twelve-sided bezels with four screws, the new 2022 models include a new 42 mm Baumatic version as well as 33 mm (self-winding) and 36 mm (self-winding and quartz) women’s references.
The first model, the Riviera Baumatic M0A10702, comes in a 42 mm x 10.7 mm stainless steel case that frames a smoky gray sapphire dial offering glimpses of the gear trains of its mechanical movement. Legibility is excellent thanks to the large applied hour markers, "XII" and "VI" Roman numerals, and three-face hours and minutes hands, all treated with white Super-LumiNova emitting a blue glow.
Matched to an interchangeable three-link steel bracelet, the watch is powered by the 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) self-winding BM13-1975A Calibre that guarantees an autonomy of 5 days or 120 hours. The movement and its oscillating weight are visible through the sapphire crystal caseback secured with 4 screws.
Water resistant up to a pressure of 10 bar (approximately 100 metres / 330 feet), the Riviera Baumatic M0A10702 has a suggested retail price of CHF 3,150. Our review of the Riviera Baumatic with smoked blue dial can be read here.
The 42 mm diameter size is also used for the new Riviera M0A10660 featuring a stainless steel case with a sand-blasted titanium bezel fastened to the case with four functional screws. Like the Baumatic, this reference is water resistant up to a pressure of 10 bar.
The distinctive look is reinforced by a gold-plated PVD ring that frames the slate dial highlighted by tone-on-tone “wave” decorations as well as Roman numerals and indexes in gold-plated steel.
Its 4 Hz automatic movement (SW200) delivers a power reserve of 38 hours. Equipped with an interchangeable gray rubber strap, the Riviera Automatic M0A10660 retails at CHF 2,650.
The Swiss brand also presented two new 36 mm Riviera models. The first, the Riviera M0A10661, echoes the men's version and comes in steel with a titanium bezel, a ring in gold-plated PVD, a “Swiss-made” 4 Hz self-winding movement, and an integrated steel strap. The price of this model is CHF 2,800.
The second model, the ultra-feminine Riviera M0A10662, is characterised by a steel case with a bezel set with 44 diamonds that frames a white mother-of-pearl dial. Powered by a quartz movement, this model retails at CHF 3,300.
A smaller 33 mm diameter is used for two automatic models adorned with a pink “sun satin” dial (ref. M0A10675 ) or a white mother-of-pearl dial (ref. M0A10676) with prices of CHF 2,330 and CHF 2,880, respectively.
Finally, we have the Riviera “Coastline” M0A10677 driven by an automatic movement (SW200) with 38 hours of power reserve.
Housed in a 33 mm steel case, this model sports a stylish design with a gradated midnight blue lacquer dial set with 63 diamonds. The diamonds portray the seaboard of the French Riviera. The asymmetry introduced by this gem-setting combining precious stones in seven different sizes extends to a portion of the bezel, case and integrated steel bracelet. Price: CHF 5,700.
All the 36 mm and 33 models are water resistant to 50 metres / 165 feet. baume-et-mercier.com
