Zenith - Defy Skyline

Launched in January 2022, the new Zenith Defy Skyline ref. 03.9300.3620 has a price of CHF 8,400. Available in blue, black or silver.

Zenith first introduced the Defi name in 1902 for one of its collections of pocket watches. In 1969 used the name, after changing it to Defy, for a line of wristwatches.

Today, the Defy is the collection that combines Zenith's cutting-edge manufacture movements with futuristic forms and materials.

This audacious spirit can be also found in the new Defy Skyline models characterised by a black, blue or silver star-studded dial with a sunburst finish and a decorative pattern consisting of perfectly aligned and engraved four-pointed stars, which are a modern reinterpretation of the Zenith “double Z” logo of the 1960s. 

Coated with SuperLuminova SLN C1,  the rhodium-plated hands and indexes are complemented by a small counter at 9 o'clock where a constantly running 1/10th of a second hand makes steady jumps in fixed increments, completing one revolution every 10 seconds and reminding the wearer the precision of the 5 Hz (36,000 vibrations per hour) movement powering the watch. 

This is the new El Primero 3620 whose architecture can be admired through the transparent sapphire crystal. The automatic winding mechanism with bi-directional rotor with a star motif delivers a power reserve of approximately 60 hours. 

Drawing inspiration from the octagonal geometry of the early Defy models including the recently revived Defy A3642, the Defy Skyline comes in a  41 mm stainless steel case with sharply defined edges and a faceted bezel with twelve sides that are positioned to echo the hour markers. 

Emblazoned with the star emblem, the crown is screwed-down in order to guarantee a water-resistance of 10 ATM (100 metres / 330 feet).

The watch can be worn with a steel bracelet with a satin-brushed surface and chamfered and polished edges or with the additional rubber strap - blue for the blue dial, black for the black dial and olive-green for the silver dial. Bracelet and strap can be easily swapped without any tools using the Defy quick change mechanism consisting of secure buttons on the back.
