The Glashütte Original Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date is a chronograph like no others with its square case with rounded corners, 12-hour chronograph aperture at 12 o'clock and large outsize date display.

In the past, we presented various colour variations including a gradated green (here our review) as well as yellow and turquoise. 

The latest interpretation is characterised by an elegant dark blue dial that is the result of an elaborate process of galvanisation. Glashütte Original produces its dial in its dedicated manufactory in Pforzheim, a city with rich traditions in jewellery around 600 km east of the headquarter. 

The rhodium-plated indexes and hands are coated with Super-LumiNova for enhanced visibility in the dark and mounted by hand. 

All the indications are efficiently arranged: 30-minute chronograph counter at 3 o'clock, small seconds and power reserve display at 9 o'clock, 12-hour chronograph aperture at 12 o'clock and, of course, the signature Panorama Date at 6 o'clock.

The central stop-second can be reset to zero and restarted with a single press of the pusher thanks to the flyback function.

The 40 mm x 40 mm stainless steel case with rounded corners contributes to the vintage look of this model. Its total thickness is 14.1 mm.

Visible through the sapphire crystal case back, the automatic chronograph movement with column wheel and flyback mechanism, Calibre 37-02, beats at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) with an autonomy of 70 hours. The typical features of Saxon watchmaking, such as bevelled edges, polished steel parts, blued screws and the Glashütte three-quarter plate with stripe finish are all there.

Water resistant up to a pressure of 10 bar (approximately 100 metres / 330 feet), the Glashütte Original Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date with the new blue dial can be matched to a choice of straps - brown-grey nubuck leather (ref. 1-37-02-08-02-62), blue Louisiana alligator leather (ref. 1-37-02-08-02-61) and black rubber (ref. 1-37-02-08-02-63) - or to a stainless steel bracelet with folding clasp (ref. 1-37-02-08-02-70) with prices starting from Euro 13,200. glashuette-original.com
